Imagine your number goal being to avoid vote-splitting and not, I don't know, making the city better for your constituents.

Simply out of principle, anyone who is part of a municipal political party will never get my vote. This type of politicking needs to stay TF away from the municipal level. But since it kills Marlaina inside that Alberta's big cities don't vote for conservative mayors anymore, this is all she has to try and covertly instill her ####ty brand of populist conservatism because she's that agenda-based and ultimately, that petty.

The poor Conservatives are having such a hard time in Alberta. They shouldn't run against each other... Boo hoo.
Also, the I hate the party idea and its execution. These stupid party names... I had to keep scrolling back up while reading the article to keep track of which party was which.

It seems likely Northback will form a slate of candidates (puppets) for the CNP election this fall.

Good luck. Ranchlands has some of the biggest ranchers and ranches in the province. The Waldron co-op is massive and has powerful shareholders.

Had a door to door person today for someone running for councilor in our ward. I asked if they were in one of the new political parties, they were, told them I will not be voting for anyone in any of those parties.
Also mentioned it seems a little early for door to door.

When they knock on your door, it's to get data on who you will be voting for, trying to sway your opinion is not their primary purpose. It's not too early from their standpoint to know which way you're leaning.

In municipal you can definitely sway votes just by showing up, because there's a good chance you're the only one that does

It’s probably posted somewhere but businesses are suing the city for $75MM for the Marda loop impact. No idea if it’s just some sour grapes or a legit lawsuit but it sure does seem like it’s been botched.
Is it possible to see original timelines scopes and estimates vs what is projected now? Assuming the city just adjusts the forecasts hiding the original. Like basic project management. Could be totally on time and in budget but I seriously doubt it.

It's a legit beef and a legit lawsuit as business there have suffered untold levels of revenue loss. The level of construction, closures, detours and non stop changes is insane. Add to all of this the level of development that has occurred and is scheduled to occurred very soon is making the area less and less desirable for being in. Offering $5k is a slap in the face.
Residents and businesses are usually understanding of upgrades, repairs, changes but it seems that in Marda Loop and area, it just never ends, ever and with no plan for it ending anytime soon. The level of plans for the area look like turning 33rd Ave into NYC in some ways so that means more roads being closed, more new sidewalks being destroyed and done again and on and on.
Nothing wrong with basic development and construction in all areas of the city. This is blatant corruption from officials along with developers with absolutely no voices being heard from residents and businesses.

Well that settles that. It is brutally annoying but thought there was possibly another side to it potentially.

The complainants saying it lowered property values seems a little off. ~$800k for a duplex sounds opposite of lowered. Though, even complaining about that seems dumb unless you’re a house flipper.

And no parking on 22nd between 33rd and 34th? Am I missing sormething more dire than a small section, right next to a giant parking lot, being unavailable to park along?
