Default Ipod advice

Thought I'd ask here.

I've got an IPOD Nono, and its about 2 years old, and it dosen't seem to want to even charge the battery anymore so I'm assuming that the battery itself is on the last leg.

Is there anywhere in Calgary where I can get the battery swapped out, and does anyone have any idea of the rough cost.

ifixipods.com is who I dealt with when I had a dead battery. I can't remember the exact cost, but it was something like 80 bucks CDN. Very reliable though.

There's tons of places online that will sell kits or do it for you. The kits should cost around $25 bucks and come with tools and instructions. Just a little soldering for the Nano I believe.

I think I've even seen the kits at London Drugs.

While we're on the topic of iPods, now my iPod took 40 minutes of a nice wash in the washing machine, I got it dry, and it turned on and everything but the screen is messed up and the battery will only charge half. I've had it for not too long, should I get a new battery or just invest in a new iPod and this time not put it through the washing machine???

If your within one year, just send it back to apple. My money says they will send you a new one, no questions asked. My cousin spilt beer all over his macbook, sent it for warrenty, and they replaced it no problem. Apples warrenty within one year is sick. Just tell them you dont know why it doesnt work, and you should be golden

Yeah try to send it back. They'll send you all the postal packaging. I sent my girlfriends back and they replaced it. Even re-did the engraving.

Apple's warranties are great. The power inverter was going on my Macbook and I brought it in to get it fixed and complained of it being stained where my plams rest. They replaced the top case, screen bezel, all the keys, trackpad and mouse button with 2nd gen parts. I also had the power supply in my 2 and a half year old iMac replaced at no charge.

That was a bad week for computers.

the warrenty doesn't cover water damage and I highly doubt they'd help you out. I dropped an ipod in water once and it was done for. Chances are it has more damage then just the battery and you'll need a new one or numerous parts.

My kid turns 19 in a couple of weeks and wants an Ipod for his birthday.
Any suggestions for what to get. I was just planning on the regular 30 gig version.

I bought an 8GB Nano, because that's all the space I need. But now I regret not spending slightly more, and getting a video iPod. It all depends on what he wants to use it for. If it's just for music, the Nano's are great. But once you get onto iTunes, there are a lot of things on there that would make having a video iPod a good thing.

Like what? They won't let us have anything good up here in Canada.

Video podcasts for one. iPod games for another.

I realize you can't get stuff like TV show episodes, but I am pretty sure there are ways to put your own DVDs onto the iPod as well. I am sure things will continue to come available for the iPods in the future.

Get a Creative Zen Vision:m

I have a Nano and a Zen and prefer the Zen by quite a bit. The Zen can play most of the standard codecs (divx/xvid/and so on).
