Of course not, but that’s not what anyone is saying.

Yeah. But hypotherically he wins the election by more as the head of the CPC, imo. Maybe he loses a riding or two that the CPC did win to the PPC, but he picks up tons of moderate ridings (many of which were already very close) from the Liberals.

The F-35 review is wrapping up too. I'm guessing today's announcement will be a lead in to Canada dropping the remaining F-35 order and getting into bed with Saab on the Gripen purchase. Last I heard they're getting into 72 of them if they change over. And the words the Cabinet used today lends to the Gripen purchase as Saabs offer was far more robust in job creation inside Canada itself.

This is one of those decisions where if we don't drop the F-35 then I will lose a lot of hope for our government.

It's such a no-brainer to buy the Gripen.

First of all, we need to strengthen our relationships with our military allies, and that means buying their technology and equipment.

Secondly, we need to improve our own military capacity, and side benefit of the Gripen is improving our own ability to build weapons.

Third, it creates more jobs in Canada, and these high-tech manufacturing jobs are exactly what we are losing with tariffs.

I think a really compelling future is the EU, UK, and Canada all building internal military capability and specialization and buying from each other as much as possible.

Collective defence includes being able to build and produce the gear your military needs..

The DND said their review of the F35 will be completed at some point this summer. I don't think anything is happening today unless the government doesn't care about DND's input.

I think people shouldn't look at this in isolation. Everything Carney is doing is leverage for a free trade deal renegotiation with the US including the F35 deal.

Canada's AG just released that the F-35 program has a cost over run from the 2023 19 Billion to 28 billion.

CBC reporter said the DND has been looking at Saab and Dassault.

Oh good. And now we're rolling out the red carpet for monsters like Modi and MBS.

Carney is a businessman. This is more or less a token and understandable gesture but a dubious one considering the still ongoing animosity and the assassination.

On a similar and extremely relevant note. Singh was targeted by Indian government officials with a real serious threat to his life, just revealed.

https://globalnews.ca/news/11229198/...-surveillance/

Of particular interest is the timing, which coincides with when Hardeep Singh Nijjar and Sukhdool Singh were assassinated.

Yeah, I don't want my government doing business with a regime like that. That's blood money.

Again, that's an awful look for Carney. You can't be rolling out the red carpet for a regime that's surveilling and planning assassination attempts on one of your political opponents.

This is all stuff that the Liberals would have been all over PP for and now crickets. I'm not normally one to criticize the CBC, but their reporting on this stuff has been incredibly disappointing.
