Those things have a long and storied history in their battle against gravity, inertia and wind. I think they've lost a few in recent years.

The one at 1:22 looks terrifying.

Heck, I remember being able to fly them in the 1990 computer game LHX Attack Chopper.

Seat 11A on a Boeing 787-8 is about to become the most requested seat in airline history.

Did they take off without flaps? Looks that way in the video.

You managed to get close to the fence! The security guard politely requested I stay a couple of feet back.

Hard to tell but looks like it.

It looks like it stalled because the lack of lift.

The wing sure looks clean, but I've seen chatter on other forums that it could be hard to see Flaps 5 on the 787 in those videos? It sure kicked up a lot of dust at rotation, almost out of runway?

I guess best to wait for preliminary information to come out.

The passenger mentioned hearing a loud bang, so perhaps a bird strike?

I don't see any flames or debris fly up though.

What an awful event. I hope they can find a cause that is resolvable quickly.

Ya, that looks like a shallow angle departure, either overloaded or under powered. I don't think they took off too steeply.
