Saw Order of the Phoenix today, and I think it's close to my least favorite of the series. Maybe a 6/10 but only out of pity.
Though I'm not sure what else they could have done, the books are so very long now, so they have to cut a large chunk out. But rather than cutting out the character development and such, I'd rather they cut out plot and make the story more focused.
This one seemed like it was a rush from one key scene in the book to another. So many times it seemed something would happen or someone would say something and there's no background given or reason or context.
If one hadn't read the book they'd probably be totally lost.
A few things were quite good, but overall I was disappointed.
Bring on Deathly Hollows!

I figured all along this would be the weakest movie just as thus far it's the weakest book (at least IMO). The book is essentially full of much of the background info you need for the finale of the series in books 6 and 7. And really a lot of that info probably could have been put in some of the first 4 books if Rowling wrote the series with a specific age group in mind. However, as she made the choice to sort of have the books grow with the audience of the first couple it was inevitable the latter books of the series were going to contain more material.
The books have always been better than the movies, though to be quite honest I think they've generally done an admirable job of bringing the series to the big screen.

Rowling has been a stickler, much to the chagrin of the studios, in keeping as much information from the books tranposed into the movies. I would agree with you in that they have done an admirable job. its must be quite difficult in transfering so much information into a 2-2.5 hour format.

Apparently the book has been leaked online. Don't post where to find it here, but it looks like it is legit. Or a very very good fake.

Does anyone here know how much Walmart is charging for the book? I can't find it on their website. Just wondering if anyone saw anything at the store.

Some people have to spoil everything! I plan on locking myself in my room all weekend to avoid spoilers.

If the leak is real, the ending is pretty lame and disappointing.

Watched a story on the news last night about a leaked copy, they were sure not to give away any hints though, I just want to know who the two people that die are.

The Potter purists probably won't like this, but american comic writer Brad Neely has done an excellent sort of book-on-tape overdub of the first harry potter movie, called Wizard People, Dear Reader. Very Dark and profanity-laced and melodramatic, and the guy's voice is compelling and horrible at the same time. The cribbage match episode is particularly good.

Or if you've got the time, you can start at the beginning and watch every episode:

Me too.
However, the premise of a dorky young wizard growing into his power is just so cheesy I cannot see how it could possibly have gained such international notority.
The movies were good in terms of action, but plot-wise? *yawn*
