May be what the under tone from Jason was that there's no way Oilers gonna lose.

3 West finals in a row...probably should have made the final last season they were the better team. Lost a game where they allowed 10 shots, hard to blame the coach.

That said he cost himself a job with the goalie stuff...Stars need to be careful though, you know whats worse than losing in the final four? Ask 28 other teams.

I can't see McDavid leaving now with back to back finals appearances. He'll be the highest paid player in the league and it will be with Edmonton.

There has never been a real sign that McDavid is interested in leaving, it's a Flames fans hallucination. Most likely he retires as an Oiler.

Sure, maybe if the Oilers never went anywhere in the playoffs, but that's not how things are.

I can definitely see him leaving. Their window in the next week here. They have no cap space next year even with the rise in cap, have under $14MM to sign 6 players with one being Douchard who will eat $10MM of it. Then year after is McDavid and Skinner.

If they don’t win it now it isn’t going to happen, McDavid knows that.

It will be a Ray Bourque situation. He play in Edmonton for as long as possible but if he doesn't win a cup he'll look for an opportunity with another team at the end of his career.

Well it's been a big thing on CP because one of our insiders dissentowner has mentioned he has inside info that McDavid has plans to go to the Leafs when this contract is up and has for years.

Meh, everyone says this every year about cap crunched teams, but the reality is most teams find a way to keep teams together if they believe in the core. Whether it's through buyouts/BS injury claims etc. They mostly make it happen when fans all yearr go "Hanaha that team is ****ed next year with salary, no way they keep them together!".

They're an annual contender now, there is no way McDavid..or management looks at two straight Cup finals and goes "welp, that was our two shots, now it would be really hard to fit this team under the cap so F it, we're done, we had our chance".

Kyle Davidson talked about the cap. Said it’s the first time he can feel the rest of the league doesn’t feel capped out or stressed about the cap. Which opens up more players in free agency and easier for teams to keep players now. Might open up the trade market.

I stand by that 100%. If I am wrong you can all shame me until the cows come home and I will honour Paulie and I's bet. He has every intention on signing with the Leafs after this deal.

Then I hope he string the Greased Pigs along so they can't trade him for a haul.

I can’t tell if I’d prefer the Treliving special where he gets walked to UFA and leaves for nothing or if I’d prefer a bidding war to gut the leafs for a 31 year old.

I've never seen a coach need a year off more than this guy. You can't come apart in front of your players like that. How are the players supposed to remain confident and composed if their coach can't even properly pull a goalie.
