Anyone being a dual fan or turning to cheer for Edmonton because they are a Canadian team no coming back. Enjoy being an Oiler for life.

Gatekeeping because we're the real fans

My message was more that I don't care either way but won't get bent out of shape if they win.

This isn’t the Olympics Canada vs USA.

It’s our biggest rival and scumbags vs Florida.

A great Canadian scored in ot yesterday. Do you think he cares it’s against a Canadian team?

Enjoy your Bouchard jersey.

This…..

If North Korea had a National Hockey team and they were playing the Oilers for the Cup….I’m cheering for North Korea

It seems to have turned into a subplot of E=NG

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that you wrote this, or the fact that i clicked the hart without thinking.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. The only Canadian team I want to win, are the Flames. I don’t cheer for any other team.

Maybe Ottawa, because I feel bad for them.

Similar architecture though.

So I'm in the same situation having moved to the US as a teenager and also being outraged by how Canada is being treated by us currently. I'm still never, ever cheering for the Oilers.

I don't see any self-respecting Flames fan ever cheering for those bums. "Oh but the Canadians!!" Well Florida has plenty of Canadians too. I want those guys to win. I flipped the game on part way through and it was immediately Ron MacLean drooling all over the grease so I had to change it to TNT before I puked. Absolutely everything about the Oilers right down to the national coverage is downright gross.
Colour me surprised that he upheld his integrity (as far as we know) in standing by what he said.

No bragging or cheerleading. Not a peep since.

That.... I can respect. And we dragged each other over the coals on here.

More people need to stand up to unacceptable #### like Stang did.

Unfortunately most Oiler fans went the way of posters like Int'lVillager in praising Kane, and every other terrible decision and hire they made and not thinking twice about it. Really gross.

I bet they would've sold Virtanen jerseys up there if he had made the club.

You can try and spin it any way you want, if you think you’re a Flames fan and you’re cheering for the Oilers, you’re not a real Flames fan.

We still hear about the 80s nonstop from those clowns. Can you imagine how insufferable they would be after ending Canada’s Cup drought?? God what a nightmare

"I am not cheering for the Oilers but..."

Everything before the but is a lie.

All the Flames fans cheering for the Oilers deserve an empty feeling when the Flames are good again.

As a Flames fan who is used to decades of playoff disappointment, I am hoping for the Oilers to win as that will surely curse them to lose

How big of a loser do you have to be to be a Canadian playing in Canada, and attend that inauguration. You just know the type of person he is, and how fitting it is that he plays for that franchise.

when you actually watch the greasers play...there is no way that you can be "okay" with them winning. Draisaitl in particular is a dirty, dirty player. no one can be "okay" with that winning anything.

I posted this in another thread a while ago, but it fits this abomination of a discussion:

I remember back in 2004, watching the Flames and their improbable playoff run in my mother's little senior's apartment. I'd go over and watch on her 23 inch CRT television, mom would have her Flames jersey and pennet, and she'd have milk and cookies for me when I arrived. Sure, I watched some games at home, and some at various bars, but the best ones were at my mom's place.

Of course, in 2005 there was no hockey, and in 2006 when the playoffs started my mom was on her fourth and ultimately final battle with cancer. She was in a hospice now, and we tried to watch games, but mom was tired and slept a lot, and the Flames' series with Anaheim was only a small part of that horrible spring.

I went over one day, one of the last days, and some other family members were there - distant ones, out-of-towners - and mom was wearing an oiler jersey, and they were all going to cheer for edmonton as they played Anaheim in round 2. I was invited to stay and watch the game, and my mom whispered that I should cheer along with them.

I left.

There is absolutely no scenario where I will cheer for the oilers, and the OP and anyone who supports them should have a permanent custom title so that they can never hide from their shame.
