How far do they look to trade down if Bear is their guy? He was ranked around 13th on the consensus rankings.

Zary's draft was interesting for that, as COVID hampered scouting so there was a lot of variation in lists outside of the top 10, making it a good year to trade back and get a few extra shots. They ended up with an NHLer in Zary and a potential NHLer in the third round in Poirier (who McKenzie ranked art 33 that year).

The problem with trying to trade back this year is because it's a weak draft most teams are not going to offer up assets to move up to 18 when they feel they can get a similiar player at their own position.

All it takes is one. Someone sees someone slide that they like and they will pony up. Especially if there’s a team deep in picks.

Here’s the teams that we could trade down from our 18th pick.
19 - StL - no picks until 5th round. Unlikely
20 - Clb - picks in 3/4/6/7 - not exciting
21 - Ott - no 2nd, full picks rounds 3-7
22 - Phil - 4 2nds, picks in every round but 4 & 7
23 - Nash - 2 2nds picks in every round but 7
24 - LA - no 2nd but picks in every other round
25 - Chi - 2 2nds, picks in every round but 5
26 - Nash - see above
27 - wash - picks in every round but 6/7
28 - wpg - picks in every round but 2/4
29 - car - picks in every round but 2/5
30 - sj - 2 2nds, picks in every round but 6
31 - Phil - see above
So Philly Nashville and Chicago with multiple seconds might be interested in moving up if they really like the player. I think 2nd would be minimum price to accept for dropping down. Not sure if we want to fall down to Washington’s spot for only a second but all depends on if the scouts think our player might still be available.

Flames need to trade up, not down.
Chatgpt suggests we trade 18 + Col 2nd and Poirier to move up to get McQueen and to Package 31, our 3rd and Solovyev to move up 3-5 spots to get Ryabkin.

Would STL move 19 down to 32 if we gave a 2nd?

Every team will have their tiering of players, and particularly in weak drafts, where it costs a reasonable pick to move up a couple spots to lock a player in who they think is a tier above (like in 2020), teams will certainly do it.
If a player like Lynden Lakovic is on the board at 18, a team may certainly have him ranked a tier above what’s left. Calgary wants centres and perhaps has Cootes, Kindel and Gastin all in the same tier, so they’d be fine to trade down a few picks if they felt the extra pick is worth it

I noticed that FC Hockey's ranking changed since the last time I checked, and because I am bored and mock drafts are fun.
18th OA - Cole Reschny (C)
Justin Carbonneau was still on the board, but went with the center.
29th OA - William Horcoff (C)
Big center with pedigree. He would be hard to pass up at 29th, although I am hoping we actually get the 32nd OA instead.
54th OA - William Moore (C)
I don't know much about him except that I have seen him ranked a lot higher, so it seemed like a good choice.
80th OA - Kristian Epperson (LW)
I don't know a lot about him (which should be the caveat with every pick after this point), but went with the forward with the highest NHLe at this point because why not.
144th OA - Felix Farhammar (D)
Swedish defensemen seem like a good bet a lot of the time, plus I like the name.
176th OA - Lev Katzin (C)
A smaller center, but this is the point of the draft where you might as well swing for the fences. Only 8 fewer points than Jett Luchanko in 2 fewer games with London.
208th OA - Gabriel D'Aigle (G)
Went with the 7th round goalie. After reading Sandman's write up, it sounds like he could be a good dark horse pick.

Got Mrtka and Bear on a run through the first round. That would be a pretty tidy first round.

I'm trying to figure out why this guy has dropped so much, early on he was toted a top 15 pick, while his style is somewhat vanilla he's also a gamer who uses his size down low and is a really good skater.

If we really want a swing for the fences both Moore and Lee would be it in the second round.
lee has top ten skill but his skating is comical.
Moore seems to be a diva but also has top ten skill.
Which would be easier to fix the head or the legs?
