Coleman built his dream home in Dallas. He would likely waive fit a contender in the US.

WSH
Utah
EDM
Craig wants a 1st (doesn’t have to be this year) and young roster player or higher level propspect(s) and the belief is Andersson has very good value. However any team he goes to expects a long term extension to be part of it as well, likely around 8.25 per.
These 3 weeks can’t go fast enough!
|
Out of this list I think SJ and STL make the most sense for the best package for the Flames,
STL - Stenburg, 2026 1st
SJ - Bystedt, 2026 1st (top 10 protected)
Perhaps Utah, but guessing Hayton would be part of the return which is basically a Frost type player.
Could we add 2025 18 pick to get Tij? Guessing that isn’t enough.

Eh what? Coleman "moved" to Dallas the same summer he signed in Calgary. They have a home they've built there and if he retires a Flames he'll be gone back home the next day.

He'd accept a trade to Dallas in a split second

What about Coleman for Bourque?

I think the Flames could get Bourque for less, and the Stars are in a cap crunch and any trade for Coleman would require full retention for it to make sense for the Stars. A retained Coleman is worth far more than Bourque alone. Trade Coleman at the deadline.

They literally go back on any scheduled breaks they have even for a few days.
Only stick around during Christmas because they love Banff.
Both families are in Dallas as well.

He's aging, slowing down production-wise, is in the way of up and coming wingers, and you can get good assets for him.

Flames are not rebuilding, and they definitely require a veteran presence.
I personally don't see Coleman getting traded

Cap wise, they have a tonne of space, if he was traded its not for cap reasons
moving him I doubt the Flames would get much.

When the Flames announced via their social media that Coleman had a child last summer they were home in Texas with their new born Texan baby. The idea that Texan Coleman with his Texan Dallas Cowboy cheerleader wife are sticking around or built a family here is based on nothing

A retained Coleman at the deadline gets a 1st round pick from a contender. He is the type of players that help win Cups.

Definitely would be an asset for a playoff contender,
Not sure about a 1st.

Realistically, for 4th overall it would probably be something crazy like: Andersson, Zary, Bru & 18th overall. Top 10 picks almost never get moved, let alone top 5. It would have to be a stupid overpayment for a top 5 pick to move. If we had a top 5 pick that was being dangled as trade bait, the expectations on the return would be astronomical

I think his value is getting overblown. Someone offers a first for coleman i would break a leg running to sign that trade.

Unless the Mammoth really work the trade market to fall back a couple of times and end up back at like 12. I don't see them trading the number 4 pick in a deal for Ras. Teams picking in the top 5 might be willing to fall back like 3-4 spots and do it a couple of times depending on the draft class. But I think next years first with some lottery protection is a more likely get as the main piece.

Coleman retained at the deadline will get a 1st. He was instrumental in Tampa winning 2 cups.

At the deadline if a team things they have a real shot at the cup, and pretty good inkling that their pick will be in the 26 to 32 range they might. But we just saw Marchand go for a second that became a first based on conditions of the Panthers playoff success. I think it would be really hard for the Flames to do better than that in a Coleman deal.

We have Backs, weegs, kadri, huby as mentors. To a lower extent Bahl and Frost, sharangovich , they arent rookies. Wolf is mid twenties not a teenager. More than enough leadership on the team. Coleman has no place on the team anymore as far as im concerned.
