Craig wants a 1st (doesn’t have to be this year) and young roster player or higher level propspect(s) and the belief is Andersson has very good value. However any team he goes to expects a long term extension to be part of it as well, likely around 8.25 per.
These 3 weeks can’t go fast enough!
|
Figure something out with Utah, even if it means trading Zary and Andersson for 4th OA (and a small +). Zary would look good flanking Hayton or Cooley

The Flames aren’t trading Andersson to Edmonton. That is hilarious and likely wasn’t even worth the phone call from Edmonton lol.
Maybe for McDavid or Draisatl I would do it but the list ends there.

Toronto - eff off Treliving, unless you’re parting with Knies or Cowan+.
Carolina - multiple 1sts, good prospect pool too.
STL - hard to figure out with them, but I guess their 1st+? I’d want Dvorsky but doubt that happens.
LA - are they not happy with Clarke? Greentree+ maybe? Not sure they’re a good fit.
SJ - plenty of appealing assets, I think they’d overpay in picks and a decent prospect
WSH - shoot for Cristall. Doubt they move Leonard or Hutson
Utah - Obviously 4th OA would be the goal. If not 4th OA try to grab Tij. Would be a hard sell but he did lose a year of development and Utah doesn’t seem like they want to wait.
EDM - lmao, **** off.

Cale Makar can actually play defense however.

Ok, your turn. List all of Makar's accomplishments that make him better than Leetch. I will wait.
|
This is a really poor list. Number retired? Hockey Hall of Fame? Yeah, Makar will probably get those when he retires too. Leech won the Conn Smyth 25, Makar at 22. Leech has two Norris Trophies? Come back in a few weeks when Makar his second. The way you decide to love or hate a player than go all in without logic is commendable but it's lacking logic. You can't descredit Makar suggesting his numbers are only reflective of the high offensive team he plays for than bring up Brian Leecth in another conversation not mentioning that he had Mark Messier, Adam Graves, Tony Amonte and Mike Gartner.

I think the Flames likely could have easily got the Carlo return for Andersson at the deadline which included a 1st and Minton who was seemingly one of the Leafs only decent prospects. If Cowan is not on the table I am not sure how they can even get in the conversation.
I am making a prediction right now that Mangiapane is going to be someone that Treliving brings in this summer or he may sign with the team that acquires Ras.

Andersson for 4th OA actually sounds like a fairly fair trade.

Some of these asks are out to lunch. 4th overall or Tij? Eve if the Flames add 18+32 we are still far off there. Dvorsky was a top 10 pick 2 years ago there is no way Andersson is getting that type of prospect back. Clarke with LA? Cristal with Wash? You are aiming way to high

If the rumor is true that many are calling on Andersson, then his value starts to increase with demand. I’m not saying that’s what he’s gonna get, but that’s definitely what I’m shooting for in a deal *if* possible

4 OA straight up sounds fair to me. Is Calgary likely to get a player of Andersson’s calibre at 4OA? I doubt it. Maybe. Maybe CGY could add a pick but definitely not a 1st. Andersson is on an insane contract and is a top pairing D still pretty young. He rightfully has a lot of value and you’re seeing the market appreciate that so 4OA sounds about right.

I don't think he fetches 4th OA. Trades for top 5 picks simply don't happen often and certainly not for a very good but not great player who's only got a year left on his current contract.

Having flashbacks of Lindholm to Columbus for 3OA.
I’ll be happy to be wrong but I doubt, very much, Andersson will get the Flames a top 5 pick.

What about Andersson +? Andersson + late 1st feels steep for 4OA doesn’t it?

Hear me out, but wouldn’t Coleman be an ideal addition with Andersson? Coleman would help Utah with the two-way play. Could see him and Hayton clicking.

Coleman doesn't want to move either. He has built his family life in Calgary. Maybe Dallas but even that at this point I doubt.

Perhaps, but if I’m Utah, I’m looking for a young controlled player for 4OA.
Also, this years draft is not considered all that deep, so I suspect 18OA is not all that enticing for Utah and where they are at. Their pipeline is deep and adding to that is probably taking a backseat to getting better now.
Andersson would be a good add for them, I just think they’ll be able to get more from some other team and the + the Flames would have to add is probably something Utah already has in spades (mid round first pick, Honzek/Zary/etc)

Washington and St. Louis seem like good fits to me, where Conroy would be banking on those teams tanking after this upcoming year (thus a better pick). Almost no chance the Flames get a top 5 pick for Andersson alone. Those picks aren't traded these days, and if they were it would be for a bigger name.

Sorry not a chance, no way Andersson is going to obtain a 4OA.

Things change and I don’t think any of us can speak on Coleman’s behalf.
Coleman’s preference may be to stay but if he’s presented with an opportunity to go to a cup contender, or Dallas (also a cup contender) that’s he’s happy with, why wouldn’t he consider it?
