Back pain is very common in cycling, and there are tons of causes and even more suggested solutions. I deal with it as well, sometimes it’s worse than other times. I haven’t been able to nail down a particular solvable trigger. I do find the more I ride, the more my body adapts and it minimizes back pain. But once I’m on the trainer all winter, and not getting long rides outside, it gets worse again.
Bike fit might help, strength and core might help. I’d also try different saddle heights….a little lower if your currently on the high side, or maybe a little higher if you tend to sit low. This would also be addressed in a fit of course, but it’s something you can try on your own.
Usually no easy answers.

3-4 times a week.

Fernie is almost fully open. Not the ski hill but the trails in and around town. I've been out exploring a lot of the terrain I don't typically ride and have found some great blue rated screamers with a relatively easy climb.
The Provincial Park area is almost G2G; with this rainfall it should be ready once the sun comes out. Can't wait for Phat Bastard-Mushroom head-Erics Trip laps.
Swine Flu/Y'eddy is running beautifully and it's right beside Fernie Brewing....
Trail Dogs is a great shuttle (Contra is under construction) for those who want to hit a flow trail with jump lines.
4 Corners is wide open (Downfall, Erics Trail, Sidewinder, etc). It's an easy climb and great fun for the kids. Plus it leads right back to town and the pubs.
I'd get down there at the end of May if the weather clears up and you're wanting to beat the crowds to find cheap hotels.

Curious if anyone has tried the Trans BC Enduro? I'm toying with the idea but wondering what the race vibe is like.
Same thing with the Whitefish (Pescado) Enduro and the North American Enduro Cup in Kellogg, Idaho. Anyone ever done any of those three?

I think a professional opinion might be needed. Some bike fitters are also physios if you happen to have one near you.

Just an FYI- the bike path on the Bonnybrook bridge is closed. I didn’t see a good alternate so I just went south.

I hope this wasn't anybody on here, but if you are going eastbound on this path so fast that you cannot stay on your side, you need to slow down. This isn't the Tour de France:

I had to brake hard enough that my tires skidded and one tire went off the path to avoid hitting the idiot going east there. About 6:30 this morning. I was already as far right as I could be on my side.

Is there a place to donate bike parts too? I have some cassettes, bike chains, shifters, saddles, etc from when I had a repair business. I'm going through my shop and want to purge everything I can.

There’s some organization here that fixes up bikes for kids. Forget the name though.

There is also this place in Inglewood. They accept bikes and maybe they can use some parts as well.

There’s e-bikes… and then there’s e-motorbikes on the bike paths. Seen a few lately ripping it up doing at least 50km/h (visual estimate). Wearing full helmet gear. Kinda obvious they’re not normal bikes. Nor normal behaviour. All on paths within a few km of downtown while commuting to/from work.
Rumor is some have also been spotted on mountain bike trails.

There was a guy yesterday that blew past me doing around 60 just east of Crowchild. I estimate it was 60 because he was almost keeping up with traffic on Memorial where the speed limit is 70.

Yeah, and then a couple of times in the past few weeks I've seen somebody on the pathways with one of these:

Bylaw clearly doesn't give two shats about these fully electric, non-pedal bikes and scooters/uni-wheels that haul ass all over the pathway system. Keep you head on a swivel and pray you don't get hit.

My wife had to deal with a mini electric car or something, basically a golf cart that could go 50. He smiled and waved like he wasn't a criminal.
Sometimes I wonder if bylaw even exists in this city, or if they are just some aspirational organization we'll get one day. Oh, wait, no they'll give you a ticket for riding your bike 21 in a 20 zone. So they have one guy who can do one job.

Anybody have suggestions/experience taking your dog on your bike with you? Backpack?
Or I was just looking at BuddyRider which is a little seat for smaller dogs (under 25 lbs) to sit in/on while harnessed in.
