They will have a manufacture date on them, so take a look. If it's 10 years ago, it's the replacement beep.

But what I'm saying, again, is it's not a beep. It's literally the alarm sounding. Not beeping, sounding. Like the house is burning down, but for 5 seconds.

This is the beep:

This is what mine are doing:

When the HVAC guys were installing one for me, a brand new one kept going off. They thought it was likely a loose connector or wire causing power to disconnect, reconnect and then make the first time test alarm sound. Instead of wasting their hourly rate to figure it out, they went to the hardware store for a replacement. That one was fine minus the low battery within weeks/month of install. I'd just swap it vs trying to diagnose it.

EDIT: Check paperbagger's response from the other thread first... then if it's still doing weird things, maybe then just swap it.

Haven't posted any build updates in a while. The drywall is now going in, maybe I'll add some shots of that later.

EDIT: Crap, too big.
Spoiler!
Ooh. I love the arched ceilings in that room. Very cool. Bit of an inconvenience to have a speed bump upstairs I suppose...

Yes, I know it is a fisheye. It was a joke. Relax everyone!!!

TBH, I was kinda looking at that pic and thinking that it looked like a 19th century airplane/glider wing. Seemed like it'd be really cool to have a room that was sorta intentionally designed with those types of lines and curves.

You'll be waiting a bit... that is like the 6th priority.

Weird question regarding my toilet - maybe someone has an idea here.

The issue is the tank does not fill up immediately after the flush, but rather it takes about 30 - 60 seconds to start filling up. It always does fill up so it's only really an issue if people are using it back to back. As such, I'm not keen on replacing the whole set-up in the tank given it's only really a true issue like twice a month (maybe).

I've done the regular troubleshooting the manual told me to do (check for clogs, gummed up works) and everything appears to be running properly from the standpoint of the float and the inner workings.

Any ideas?

Any time you start a post with "Weird question regarding my toilet" you should expect at least a 70% fall-off in people reading on, and the ones that do are probably a bit odd. "What's going on with his toilet!?"

Not helpful, I know.

Do you mean there is a 30 second delay before it begins to fill or it takes that long to fill? Is the water valve turned on all the way? Maybe a low water pressure is a problem.

It takes 30 seconds before it begins to fill and then it fills up normally. I'll check the water input value - I'm pretty sure it's fully open but maybe that's an issue. This make me think maybe the input hose is the issue too. Just so odd that it works in the end - you'd think if there was a clog or something it would be binary; it would work or it wouldn't work, not work with a delay.

It is a weird question about a toilet! I've never seen or heard of this problem before. Phrasing I suppose.

Replacing the whole setup in the tank is incredibly easy and the parts are cheap. I’d give that a shot.

Toilets are pretty simple machines. If it’s not the water hookup, it’s the valve assembly. $30 and 30 minutes of work and you probably solved it.

Is it a float valve? If so have you watched to see if anything changes that eventually triggers the fill? I've seen where the float sticks and doesn't actually drop with the tank draining.

I'm not sure about how to check the fancier pressure valves. But they can be replaced without replacing the toilet.

Id probably just replace the fill valve assembly, quick and easy, assuming the water pressure is good.
The newest ones suck and seem finicky.

Until you find that your model requires you to remove the tank first to be able to disconnect the water line which then requires you to use a special socket to be able to loosen the tank bolts which then requires an hour of digging around in the garage and another hour round trip to the hardware store. F U Toto!
