I am pleased to announce that Marc-André Blanchard will serve as my Chief of Staff beginning in July.
Marc-André has a long and distinguished career as one of Canada’s most accomplished builders, legal experts, executives, public servants, and diplomats including serving as Canada’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Marco Mendicino has my continued appreciation for his service as my Chief of Staff into the early summer, including as we introduce crucial legislation to deliver on our mandate from Canadians and prepare to host global partners at the upcoming G7 Summit in Kananaskis.
Canada’s new government will stand strong for Canadians as we build a new security and economic relationship with the United States, and build a strong economy that benefits everyone — the strongest economy in the G7.
Poilievre and Carney were having laughs at the end of the English debate.

Fuzz - "He didn't speak to the media before the election, either."
It seemed to attract voters to Trump, so it wouldn't entirely surprise me if they banked on that attracting voters to Poilievre too.
There's a segment of the population just looking for ammunition and got ya moments for anything Carney does.
PP's actions are adored by this crowd. They're all in for their team, critical thought is long gone.
The Conservatives are 100% trying to appease & grow this group.
Is he intentionally trying to come across as a petulant.
I got one of his supporters really riled up when they said he was a great attack dog and I responded by saying that to me he came off as more of an attack puppy.
Supporter: “Haven’t you seen him go after *insert politicians*?”
Iggy_oi: “Yeah, that’s what I’m basing my assessment of him on.”
Supporter: “Well he’d probably mop the floor with you in a debate.”
Iggy_oi: “If you can convince him to have one with me I’d be more than happy to give him an opportunity to prove you’re right.”
Carney had ‘constructive meeting’ with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith
The prime minister is pleased with the outcome of the meetings he had with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith on Sunday.
Mark Carney wrote on social media that his meeting with Smith was “constructive” and made progress on the goal of reaching a “united Canadian economy.”
“Including getting big things built and major infrastructure projects off the ground in Alberta and across Canada,” he said, along with posting a picture at the meeting in Saskatoon.
Smith wrote that she provided Carney with “a list of reasonable changes he must make” to prove he wants to unite Canada.
“Alberta is looking forward to seeing rapid and tangible progress on these reforms following the First Ministers’ Meeting this week,” she wrote.
Carney met with oil and gas executives in Calgary on Sunday morning, his first visit to the city since being sworn in as prime minister.
That he 'must make'?
I wonder how busboobs would respond to Carney saying she must make changes to her current coal mining stance or her anti-renewables stance?

Oh fuсk off, Marlaina, you wouldn't know how to unite Canada if your life depended on it. Oh, how I hate that it's this clueless fuсkwit that is the representation for this province.

I watched the coverage of the meetings. First, CBC is top notch in its coverage. Has guestss from acros the spectrum and lets them talk. No shouting over each other or other bull####.
Second, I was left with an immense amount of pride at how the First Ministers (FM) conducted themselves. They were mature, open minded and willing to work with each other to find solutions and get things moving.
Third, super impressed by the various FM as they spoke. Kanew is pretty impressive for an ... NDP'er (What did you think I was going to say?) Although, he did kind of stomp on PM at the end and is obviously happy to hear his own voice.
Fourth, Doug Ford is pretty impressive. I heard 6 or 7 MOUs have been signed with other provinces to remove trade barriers. Very impressive that he is moving that fast and is being a leader in this area. I also think he is playing a role in moderating some of the other more wingnut leaders(cough/Smith/cough).
Fifth, I hate to say this, I mean I really, REALLY, hate to say this but SHE was actually really impressive in her moments at the mic. Laughing with Ford walking in when he said love was in the air, was a good moment. Her positions sounded reasonable and the mic drop moment of 9 trillion being left in the ground is a great argument. Anyone know if that estimate is true? Overall, she did a good job. Now I feel dirty.
And Carney was very impressive again. He continues to deliver on his promises and is moving things forward. Getting all of the FM to come together and help establish what is a National Project was a brilliant move and he seems to have pulled it off. He comes across as the man in control who will do what he says he will do. I kept trying to think of PP in this situation. It would be a trainwreck.
Time will tell and the FMs may not be as happy when the no answers start coming but, as CBC pounded on, but overall it really makes me optimistic.

I'm frankly just impressed that Smith finally showed up in person to one of these meetings instead of joining via webconference and being in a foul mood the entire time. Obviously the bar is low if that is what it takes to impress me with her.

Good.
Consent is something that would never be achieved, First Nations aren't monolithic and you'd never get them all to agree.

The bar is so low it's a tripping hazard in hell.

Is it not 'consult'? I assume the SCC has defined that over and over?
That's where the argument is - the UN declaration has the phrase "free, prior and informed consent" which some have interpreted as a veto. The article cited earlier indicates the federal government do not interpet it that way and believe they have a duty to consult. But it wasn't that long ago that the Canada formally adopted the declaration and I'm not sure how tested in court it is yet.
