The Toronto Blue Jays announced Friday they placed outfielder Anthony Santander on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.
The Blue Jays recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A to take Santander's spot on the active roster.

Hopefully some sort of fixable medical issue has been the problem with him, and it can get fixed. Getting 2024 Santander instead of 2025 Santander would be worth quite a few extra wins.

Roden was raking in AAA since being sent down. I have a feeling he'll figure things out at the MLB level eventually, same way Barger seems to have figured things out.

Maybe it's irreparable and the Jays can get out of that contract on a technicality...

Find out later that he is from Toronto. So I guess that's cool he did that in front of friends and family

I wonder if it makes sense to try and sign Barger to a longer term deal. Good 3B defense, hits for power from the left side. Could be something there. I think there's a chance you can come to a deal where you guarantee him intergenerational wealth but pay less than he'd likely get otherwise. He has 2 pre-arb years and 4 arb years left, so maybe $30MM over 7 years? Something like 0.75, 0.75, 2, 4, 5, 6, 11.5 (FA year), but pay it equally over the seven as an incentive. You're taking on injury/regression risk, but if he keeps progressing you've got a bargain that frees up room for an FA signing.

Personally I don't believe in Barger at all. Things are going well for him now but he swings at some tough pitches. I don't think he naturally has an eye to be an everyday player.

Some players start off as 700 ops or .650 an improve. Barger has the tools he has made adjustments in minors continually. Will he do it in majors?
Speaking of minors we look after Schultz flunarty Fischer in pen... in pen we have picks like Dominguez, Gregory, rogers van eyk, bash etc in upper minors
We are developing pitching. Plus big names starter types in lower and injured list returnkng
Last year trade deadline scorecard? Schreck Pinago... we have some outfielders.
Prospects are fine.

Are there any of the younger guys you'd believe in to lock up now? It's definitely a risk, and signing Schneider for 5 years last year would look really bad right now, so it's not a slam dunk.
I think Fluharty looks great as well, but relievers are so fickle I'd be much less interested in locking him up long term due to injury/pumpkin risk.
