He may end up doing alright, but from a PR perspective its another failure for a high profile expansion team that has money to burn but has inexplicably gone coach shopping at Dollarama. They could find a guy with cache and a winning track record. Instead they seem to be spinning their wheels. We'll see I suppose but they need wins and a proven coach has a better shot at providing just that or at least tells your fan base that you're trying.
The roster badly needs more high end talent so he may be an okay coach for this period where they are going to be stuck in mediocrity. They need to nail the hire when they amass enough talent to become a factor in the west.
As a fan of this team, I didn't like the firing of Bylsma or this hire. I hope he does well, but it's the team on the ice that's the problem that has stemmed from Francis. It doesn't matter who you have coaching as this team is not built to win. They need help on the back end as well as high end scoring.
I fear that they are going to go after Marner which I don't think is the answer, but as for the coach. It is what it is and I hope for the best
Every time I see the name Lambert, that Disney cartoon character, Sheepish Lion comes to mind. I love that cartoon as a kid and still love it now that I'm old. I downloaded it and still watch it from time to time.
