Some people say things they don't actually mean. It's like a sarcastic, metaphor/allegory riddled way of communication. Like razzing. I don't prefer conversing this way at all or have friends that converse this way, but it's not really evil... I think.
Like: "OMFG I love you, you dumb as bitch. I hope your life goes to hell and we can laugh about how #### you are over drinks next week."
They're not bad/evil for saying this assuming they don't have negative or ill intentions in the way they say it (they don't mean it in that way). But I'd associate it with some form of incompetence of social interaction or appropriate selection of verbiage (ie: read the room) than malice.
They way I summarize it, is it feels easy to be condescending if the online response was made in real life.
|
Well that got deep in a hurry.
I was more referring to people who are just natural pranksters that intentionally give people the wrong idea initially and follow it up with a delayed punchline where the other person ends up basically laughing at themselves for getting even slightly worked up over it.

100%
I've said it before, but I talk to most people here the same way I talk to friends in real life, even though I know there's a percentage of people here who hate that and find it informal and rude. However, from my perspective, most of us have been talking on this platform for many years, and many of us have even met each other. It's just friendly banter

There are 3 million pylons out in Calgary right now. Random road speed limits slowed miles in advance of construction crews.
Calgary’s definitely jumped the shark on construction season this year, it’s like a parody or something. Like one of those Just for Laughs pranks skits where they film drivers getting all pissed off.
Honestly it is idiotic what’s happening here. Like let’s start 3,000 projects and put crews on 4 of them but just have lanes closed and roads chopped up everywhere. Who’s in charge of this #### and why are drivers literally NEVER considered? No limits on construction contractors. Just absurd.
Meanwhile the road quality of Deerfoot is how I imagine Oregon trail was in the 1800s. Make sure your shocks and tires are in good shape.
#### the UCP on this point alone. All this construction on Deerfoot, maybe repave the broken ass road everywhere. Garbage.

At the end of 2023 the City stopped their own Traffic Operations department from doing any detours or road closures themselves outside of some special events and first party work (like closures for water main breaks)
Because of that, we've seen a dozen shoddy traffic companies spring up, often with stolen City cones and barricades that they've just grabbed from the side of the road and slapped their company logo on, and these companies clearly do not give a ####. Improper or no signage, dangerous closures that aren't done properly with no buffer zones or sudden sharp changes, etc. And of course, just leaving it up because they know people will just blame the City anyway.
Of course, some of these things were always an issue with some companies that already did their own closures, but this is why it seems so much worse in recent years.
But good thing the city shuttered one of their departments that actually earned them money. Idiots

It's ridiculous. You chose to drive a car so that means you are a c-word.

Easy there, lets not pretend they are doing any better of a job with pathways and sidewalks. We are all c-words to politicians.

It's wild how there seems to be no oversight. I believe a lot of the detour plans are still drawn up by city traffic techs, but then they're just not followed in any capacity. And not enforced

Speaking of enforcement, weren't companies supposed to get fined for improper signage or having signs up during non-construction hours... did I just dream that up?

Yes... but if the road has no shoulder, or if the construction precludes the use of the shoulder, signs can stay up 24/7.
I thought y'all liked gov't stimulus. Well folks, here it is.
