(Re. Marco Rossi: I don't think there is a fit w/ PHI at this time. Speaking with sources, the #MNWild    would want Tyson Foerster or one of PHI's late 1sts; PHI has no interest in either. Rossi's contract demands are said to be "too much" for either team. @DailyFaceoff")

If this is true, this seems awfully cheap for Rossi. Would move #31/32 or honestly even#18 for Rossi in a heartbeat. Flames have plenty of cap to sign Rossi to as well. I'd even give him the Kadri contract 7x7

One of their late 1sts is Edmontons. So offer Florida's I guess? That'd be a steal

(Further to Anthony’s reporting here, I’m hearing Rossi’s camp is looking for a similar deal to Matt Boldy. All indications are he’s asking for something in the 7x7 range.)

Again, one of our 1sts and this contract extension I'd do it in a heartbeat. Rossi's floor is a 2nd line center with potential to be a 1st line center but either way 7mil will be the going rate for a 2nd line center in the now or near future.

So, so happy to hear this. Felt like I was on an island with my outlook on Zary given the commentary I've read here about the player.

25-26 to be Ovechkin's last NHL season

Too bad.
I'd like to see him go for 1000.

If it's Foerster AND a late 1st, that would make sense why philly wouldn't be interested. Seems weird to scoff at a late 1st for a 23 60pt center.

I have to think Conny would definitely have the FLA 1st in play for Rossi. Would be a nice wrap up to the Tkachuk trade.

That's going to change things up for the caps because they're going to go into an instant rebuild after next season.

I'm sure they're going to go all in for next year but it's going to be a fast tear down afterwards.

If that's all the trade cost and contract requirement is for Rossi, then Conroy should be all over this.

Pick 32 for Rossi is all sorts of right for CGY.

If the Penguins get NYR's pick this year, I would target that - and I would also target NYR's pick in 2026 if that's what moves to the Pens instead. Until Crosby leaves (or if), the Pens are still in 'win now' mode.

Andersson
Coleman (50% - just 2 years left on his deal - more attractive than 1 year on Andersson from Pittsburgh's view)

Maybe that's a bit light for the 12th pick, but maybe the right amount for the 26th pick. I would hate to trade Coleman away, but you have to give to get. Flames need to make some room on the wings as well.

If it does end up being the 12th pick, Flames can then add Florida's pick and maybe move up to 8th? 6th maybe?? Maybe the 18th pick will get them to 6th? Hard to say.

This may all be moot, because if I am Dubas, whether I have Crosby or not is irrelevant - I am not trading any more futures as this team needs to draft and develop a young core. San Jose did so with some vets. LA did it. Washington is doing that. However, maybe the push to try and get into the playoffs is too much to resist.

I also doubt the contract will be bad either. I really believe that by the end of free agent frenzy this summer, any contracts signed before July 1 will look a lot better.

Trade for Rossi, get him signed

Sign Wolf
Sign Zary
Sign Bahl

Wait for other teams to go on a spending spree and watch the value of our contracts increase. Make a big trade mid to late July

lol how does "one of Philadelphia's late 1sts" suddenly become Calgary's 32nd overall.

Doubt Minnesota takes that

Maybe when that article was written it was possible for the Flyers pick from the Oilers to be 29? Still, unlikely. The other pick is 21. Thats more likely IMO and probably means the Flames #18 to start. Then they add.

I think the Flames would too. But I still think they need to add.

That said. You either pick a future C at 18 or get one now who is 23 and ready to step right in. Absolutely you pursue it.

I wonder what the add would be if that were the scenario.

I think the Flames would.

Quick edit - I mean the Wild don't have to move Rossi this year do they? Arb eligible, maybe gets a 2 year deal but is there any amount that would be awarded that would prevent the Wild from holding onto him if they had to?

Yeah, you are unlikely to get a player of that caliber at #18 in any year and he still has a lot of years ahead of him. I might depend somewhat on what his salary and term demands are. If he only going to sign short term to become a UFA as soon as possible, I would probably pass.
