The good news is that the ankle doesn't seem to be affecting Felix's movement and he's serving much better in this 4th set than he did in set 3. Arnaldi is playing like he did in the opening set though, so this is going to be a tussle.

Hopefully I'm wrong here, but it has the classic look of a match Felix is going to let slip away. Seems to be just mashing the ball without a plan now and is spewing errors (especially the backhand which looks as shaky as ever). Such a frustrating player entirely in need of a fresh team and outlook.

Yeah, this is going five sets no doubt and Felix really has no one to blame but himself.

Looks like Felix is getting another visit from the physio guys. This is not looking promising.
Edit: Maybe it was just a re-wrap of the ankle, he's bouncing around and is continu9ing the match.

Oh boy, a regulation volley at the end and it's dumped into the net by Felix. It's all falling apart unfortunately.

I do have to give some credit to Felix though, he's hanging in there, Arnaldi is getting everything back at the moment though. It does also look that the ankle is bothering him, he doesn't seem to be moving all that great.
Edit: Two break points and Felix couldn't cash in to get back on serve. I don't know if he's going to get another chance in this match.
Edit 2: Felix broken and Arnaldi serving for the match at 5-2 in set 5.

That just about does it. A real headscratcher to try a baseline drop shot in a neutral rally down advantage in a game.
FAA needs a big reset for grass season after a really rough clay swing.

Article on El Diallo
The Unseeded Player You Don't Want to See in the Draw? Meet Gabriel Diallo
https://benjaminlewis03.substack.com...-you-dont-want
on his development path compared to Felix/Shapo
Quote:
Diallo’s path has been far different than his other top compatriots. Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov, who place higher in the rankings, were superstar junior talents seemingly destined for stardom, and both had breakthrough successes in their teenaged years. Diallo was a more raw talent, who spent four years playing college tennis at Kentucky to further hone his skillsets as a player. That time in development has paid off.

I feel we have been saying Felix needs a big reset for a few years now. Save for a strong start to the season he seems to be a player that's just not good enough. Diallo looks to be primed to surpass both he and Denis as the top Canadian men's player on tour.

If Shapo wins his match on Thursday, he will become the highest ranked Canadian player.

Victoria Mboko into round 3 following a 6-4 6-4 win over Eva Lys. A real step up in quality next though as Vicky takes on Qinwen Zheng.

By the way, with her win today, Victoria is at #89 in the live rankings.

Was Ruud injured in his match today? I wouldn't have expected him to go down so early winning only 1 of the last 13 games.

Yeah, looked like a knee issue - He was barely moving out there in the 4th set.
