Gonna need both, unless the other side also doesn't have fighter jets. Especially with no air defense to speak of

How funny is it to be able to connect the dots between your freak outs that it’s painfully obvious what you’re complaining about?

Nobody is the “resident police,” call out whatever you want. But going off about irony and a lack of self-awareness when someone points out you’re guilty of the same thing you’re complaining about is just projection. I don’t hide my bias, and I don’t have any problem admitting I think some misinformation is worse than others (I mean I literally said that in my post, but I know that doesn’t fit with the your flaccid attempt to turn this around and avoid admitting your own biases). It’s actually not scary to admit your bias or admit certain things you hold important skew your views on things away from objectivity. Try it out.

You called Guilbeault “literally a Greenpeace extremist activist” right? When was he last a member of Greenpeace? An activist? Can you even name one genuinely “extremist” position he currently holds?

####ing. Infuriating. Given the interest I'll ultimately end up paying on the bank loan to cover that GST, that's like $50,000 that I lose out on.

LOL that's the example you use of spreading misinformation? The guy that was arrested as a member of Greenpeace? That's what disqualifies me from speaking about misinformation? Because you sure were acting like the resident police in your post.

Guilbeault was still using the term "activist" to describe himself in 2021 as of this post when he was a cabinet minister, so you'll have to excuse me if I'm continuing to use the terms he used to describe himself. I would say illegally climbing buildings and locking yourself to equipment qualifies as having an extremist position.

Also, in no way have I said I don't have biases - if I disclaimer them in all of my posts, will you give me a pass to post about misinformation now? Want to make sure I met your threshold.

Trump Truth Social post:

I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS, if they become our cherished 51st State. They are considering the offer!

You’re being overly dramatic and personal about this. It’s pretty straightforward, there’s no “threshold” or “permission” or “disclaimer” needed, as much as you want to pretend I’m being unreasonable for stating the simple fact that you’re just as guilty of doing what apparently “disappoints” you. It’s not “policing” you to point out reality.

If you’re going to say stuff like “consistency would be nice, but I've come to realize that's asking for too much from a lot of people on this board” you’re going to look silly. If you pretend to care about misinformation and then take issue with the guy calling out the person who says it doesn’t matter, and not the guy saying the thing you’re pretending to care about doesn’t matter, you’re going to look silly then, too.

Let’s try the Guilbeault thing again. I’ll break it up into simple questions:
Is he a member of Greenpeace today?
Can you name one extremist position he holds today? (you’ve already answered no to this, but you can give another go).
Does he fit the definition of an activist today? or a politician?

But, spoiler, I know the answers. So if you just want to admit it was misinformation so we can skip to the part where I’ve made my point instead of dancing around it and you bending over backwards to avoid admitting obvious misinformation was obvious, that’d be fine. I just want to know you’re self-aware, as that seems very important to you.

Spoiler - PepsiFree tries to paint people into made up gotchas that make no actual sense. I'm not playing your dumb games. You won't even admit you're wrong on things, just continually move goal posts so that you never have to admit you're wrong.

Made up gotchas? YOU ASKED when you spread misinformation so I told you and now you’re mad about it, won’t admit you’re wrong, and are moving the goalposts! LOL

Like you could not have written a more ironic post if you tried.

I thought you were angry but given the projection I’m guessing it’s self loathing. Give yourself a break man. We’re good. You don’t lose points because you spread some misinformation and have a strong bias. It’s something everyone can see anyways (same with people seeing mine).

Not quite Canadian Politics, but close enough I think to the right thread. Curious to hear what folks' opinions are to the BC Government's actions around National Parks.

I understand the National Post isn't the desired source of news for a large portion of posters in this thread, but hoping to garner some takes just based on what BC is doing.

As a BC resident, I have no idea what this is about and its behind a paywall.
Safe to say some made up bologna by a National Post opinion piece?

... No?

I mean the parks in question are in fact closed to people who aren't band members for a significant period of time. It is only two parks, apparently. If that trend continues it's definitely a problem.

Seems fine to me. They should close some parks here for a stretch or implement limited day pass systems. They’re getting absurdly overrun with people “enjoying” “nature.”

Weird. I don't pay for it and it isnt behind a pay wall for me.

The article was more fact-based than their normal opinion pieces.

In general, I try to avoid opinion pieces from papers.

It's asking me to pay for a subscription to read it.
I assumed it was an opinion piece, thought i saw that somewhere on the link.
My apologies if I mischaracterized.

I think it's absolutely wild that they've close Botanical Beach.

Canada has long neglected our military responsibilities and needs to become less dependant on the USA. This is one area where I can understand US frustration with Canada.

I don’t think the Trump administration is “frustrated” with Canada regarding defense. He uses the same extortion tactics on everyone when he wants something. What he wants, is our annexation and resources.

We definitely need to amp up our military defenses.

We just need to string him along and not actually commit to anything until he gets distracted by the next golden idea.
