@8 ball, if you or your wife are Disney fans, even just a little, I would highly recommend visiting Disney Sea in Tokyo. One of if not the best Disney parks in the world.

Does $115 for a ten day car rental seem scammingly low? From Budget?

Sometimes they dump the price if they have too many vehicles and no where to park them, particularly at airports. It's cheaper to have them rented than pay for parking somewhere(and hope they get the additional charges on the rental). If this is a US destination Canadian tourists tend to go to, that might be the case.

Costa Rica airport for a “full size SUV” which they call a rav 4 for some reason.

If it’s Costa Rica - I recall they have an insurance thing that basically doubles the price of your rental upon arrival.

My info may be outdated - been 8 yrs so since I’ve been.

Re: Sydney - be sure to take the ferry to Manly. It’s my favorite beach in Sydney. The northern beaches are far superior to the southern beaches.

When I lived in Manly walk north up the beach to the pipes. They make for some of the best surf watching. The second pipe had the best banks when I was there. If the surf is up you can watch some great displays of people ripping waves.

One of my favorite things to do when I arrive in Sydney is to check out all the beaches on the northern shore. It’s a car trip so not sure how you would arrange it but I’ve always had friends who have taken me on the tour.

Anyway - I desperately miss that city, it’s my favorite. Find a small cafe and get a flat white and breathe in the salty air and watch the waves.

Those are my fondest memories of living a block from the waves in Manly.

If it's US or Canada you've gotten a deal. Mexico/Latin America you're signed up for an argument about how it's illegal for you to leave without the expensive local insurance.

We visited both Manly and the more famous Bondi Beach. Had to do Bondi as it’s iconic. Manly is better.

Appreciating a lot of the Tokyo recommendations I'm seeing in here.

If you don't care about getting a brand like Tumi, etc. then Staples.ca is a good option and has a bunch of laptop backpacks that would work. I have one from my firm and I use it all the time as one of my personal items to hold my laptop in the back of the backpack which has a hard backside to provide it some protection, and stuff all my random carry on things into the main part of the backpack. I bring that with my one carry on luggage and I never need to check any bags. The backpack also fits neatly under the seat in front of you.

I have an aluminum case from MVST.
Mvstselect.com

Monos is a Vancouver based company that I've heard good things about as well.
Otherwise just check Winners; should find something similar for a great price if you're not going for influencer cool.

Considering a trip to Jasper. Is it worth the trip with all of the destruction? The town needs tourists. We hike, relax and eat out. Are the hiking trails good?

Is hiking good in Jasper? Is the Vatican a good place to look for Catholics?

Don’t mock. I reckon a lot of the trails were destroyed.

While some sections of some trails got burned, it looks like only 3 are closed(and one is a short vs long, so 2 trials).

We will be there October 9th to the 13th, so I will definatley look into this.

I reckon hiking trails are similar to a broken escalators after a fire. I think what you are probably asking is if it’s the scenery is still nice?
