I can’t help but think we could have been what we are seeing with Florida if we had a competent owner and GM.

Did they say it is a 2 week break in between the finals if the Panthers sweep? I swear that better not kill their momentum for the finals.

31 fan bases didn’t have Chucky and Bennet on their team.

If the Stink get through I hope they sweep them by similar scores to the first three here

Are you suggesting geography/taxes aren't a big advantage for teams like Florida, Tampa, Vegas, Dallas? I mean geography is the main reason Tkachuk is there.

If they get swept AGAIN, you really have to consider making coaching changes. Despite getting to the conference finals continually, that's not the end goal. When you don't even have a puncher chance once you get there, it doesn't feel much different than getting eliminated in the second round. Getting to Buffalo Bills territory.

I would caution teams about making changes based on their results against Florida
Toronto was a first round out last year, took the defending champs to 7 games, and look what Florida is doing to Carolina
I know Toronto is used to everything being about them, and are doing a lot of hand wringing, but sometimes it’s not just about them
But on the other hand, Carolina has really been clapped so far. Toronto was in the series but Carolina has not been. I don’t see how they extend this series unless something changes drastically

Florida scored five goals in the 3rd period. Carolina, four across the entire series.
I don’t think this series is going how Carolina would’ve liked.

I know the guy is bordering on legendary status there… but how do you keep your head coach if you’re swept in back to back east finals?

Probably going to back to back Eastern finals is seen as a pretty good result.
Florida has an insanely good team that seems to steamroll the rest of the east, which is aided by the fact that they are allowed to act as a bully and get away with it.

Bringing back Cam Ward out of retirement would do wonders.

The Hurricanes scored 6 goals in the entire series against the Panthers 2 years ago. The same thing is happening this year again.

Yep, totally agree. That should have happened in 2009 and 2019 of those conf. finals sweeps that they lost.

The clips Bieksa showed of the Canes getting bullied were painful to watch. Especially Aho getting jumped by Tkachuk, with two other Panthers ready to take on any Canes who joined the fray, and no Canes showing up.
People go on about how size and grit aren’t important in today’s NHL, but physical intimidation still matters in the league. A lot. And the playoffs are just a different beast from the regular season in terms of physicality.
This is a copycat league, so expect teams to rejig their rosters to get bigger and meaner.

being your only obstacle to a finals appearance, how do you keep your coach who can’t figure out how to get your team to show up against them at all?
The whole things bizarre to me. I don’t think he deserves to be fired, but the situation is certainly unique.
