Forget any Hamilton factor I'd want to make sure he doesn't wake up with a headache and blurred vision every day. His concussion history is concerning at best IMO

does it not concern anyone that his second team has now had enough of Byram after a year? I know he has skill, but his actual impact has been bad for a while.
Maybe you can hope he's the PLD of defenseman and you will be the team he figures it out on I guess

…He wants out. They have Dahlin and Power and he wants to be the top guy. Top pp guy. Makes sense to me. It’s also Buffalo.

I don’t think it has anything to do with what you said. It’s more of Byram wanting more opportunity elsewhere since he’s stuck behind Dahlin and Power, who are definitely good defenseman and warrant the ice time they’re allocated. Byram would be a great acquisition for Calgary. I do believe he needs a top end defender for him to flourish, so Weegar would be ideal as his D partner. I bet those two could log big minutes together as our top pairing. Would also keep Weegs on the right side.

Well he won't be the top PP guy in CGY either. That belongs to the Bobby Orr guy we just drafted.

Not at all.
Buffalo robbed Colorado. They got, by far, the best player in that trade. It was absolutely not an organizational need (Dahlin, Power), but a case of getting the best asset they could for Mittlestadt…and they won that trade in a big, big way.
That Byram trade may legitimately be the best move the Sabres have made since…Dominik Hasek? Degrees of scale of course, but also speaks to just what a bag of ass that organization has been.

Byram is a poorman’s Morgan Rielly. I would take a big pass myself.

I doubt they are talking about a player who is generally available on waivers.
Even though he was a great pick up.

I know but he is really our only Dman with snarl. I just don’t see Rasmus waiving to go there

The Panthers themselves probably offer him around 7.5. With the extra year, and how much Bennett loves Florida, that will be enough to keep him.
IMHO, the only way he walks is if another team offers him 9+.

Byram has been the Sabres’ second best d-man this season. He has played better than Power. The reason they’re shopping him is because they can’t afford all three, and they need help at RD with a player who has different qualities.

Yeah and instead of 18 yrs old Sam Bennett, he would revert to Bennett the 4th line LW as a Leafs

I don't mind Byram but he wouldn't be my preferred splashy pickup. In some ways he fits, in some ways he doesn't. Can't imagine he wants to go anywhere where he is competing for pp1 with an anointed player. We have plenty of puck moving offensive minded guys coming. Make the picks or get a centre. Let the D progress as is for a couple seasons (- Andersson of course).

Buffalo and the Flames continue to be terrible trade partners.

From what I have heard coming out of Toronto is that Tavares will be kept, I expect a multi year deal with an AVV of 6.5M. Mitch Marner is going to free agency, his Leaf days are over. They do not expect Bennett to make it to free agency and even if he does the belief is Bennett is going to get overpaid by someone and it won't be Toronto. There is also a lot of noise out there that Bennett has no interest in playing for the Leafs

Forsling was available on waiver to everyone.
Don’t think it matters when the player establishes themelsves.
