Imagine being a U.S. company having to plan your business when tariffs change daily.

Don't worry, Trump made sure that those bond yields were dropping again by bringing back the idea of a global slowdown/recession!

Poor muffins. Aww...shucks darn.

You know who I sympathize with? People's who's retirement savings are in jeopardy, and I don't mean the game show.

You could sympathize with both…. What do you have against US businesses who are trying to navigate this nonsense?

Well you'll notice I specified people with retirement savings. The thing about those is they tend to be fixed while the circumstances change around them.

Businesses can pivot and adapt.

The big ones are submitting.

Amazon is being very careful how Tarriffs are disclosed in pricing and Wapo neutering their news coverage

The Walmarts and Targets trying to down play how Tarrifs affect business after getting threatened.

So I don’t see a reason to have sympathy for Corporate US. They are active participants and doners in this situation.

Where were you in 2022 when everything took a dump.

Anyhow a portion of people's retirement savings should be in equities, so they will eventually benefit from businesses adapting.

Why? Because tariffs are way harder for smaller companies to deal with so they big guys all benefit from the smaller competition struggling more.

Yeah. If Amazon and Wal-Mart put a "tariff cost" line item on all their prices Congress would likely force Trump to back down because of the blowback to higher prices. Trump wpuld be pissed, but those companies are absolutely complicit in this.

And of course corporate America just passes all costs on to the consumer. There are however 1000’s and 1000’s of small businesses that can only hope this tariff mess is solved long term so they can continue their day to day operations with some sort of cost certainty.

It would be fascinating I’m sure to see voting stats on small business owners.

I’m more convinced than ever the tariffs are all a big distraction to hide the grifting and terrible policy being enacted by Trump and project 2025

After working in the outdoor industry for three years at Smith, which makes helmets and goggles, Cassie Abel realised there were not many brands built exclusively with women in mind. In 2016, she founded Wild Rye, a rural Idaho-based outdoor apparel brand for women.

Building her business was a labour of passion and included big risks, such as leveraging her house for capital. It was not until 2021 that she became profitable. Now, her business faces yet another existential threat: High tariffs will drive up her costs, and she’s unsure how long she can keep her business alive.
Quote:
Abel is expecting $700,000 worth of purchase orders arriving in July, which encompasses the brand’s full fall lineup, which she ordered in December from suppliers in China. She says Wild Rye, which imports twice a year, will now be subject to $1.2m in tariffs for its upcoming shipment.
Hey girly, have you tried.. pivoting?
