No Wonder our justice system is so slow. I have never really followed a trial before, but it feels like they are always on a break for some reason or another. I get not everything that is happening is typed in the CBC or London press updates, but every start, break, lunch break end is recorded. It really seems like it is about 4-5hours at most per day.
Today start at 11 EST
about 12:30EST take a break
back in for about 20 Min then take Lunch for an hour and a bit till 2:15 EST
3PM EST adjourn for the day
I think the longest day so far was 10am till about 4:30 EST with 2 30ish minute breaks and an hour lunch.
Lazy loafers!!

I don’t understand why it would be hard to tell your dad about being in a room where consensual things were happening and you were not involved. Probably just “tell the truth” as the saying goes to your dad and it would be fine.
Just thinking aloud here, but if you're brought up to stick up for women and see a woman in trouble and you just leave the room.... would be embarrassing to admit it to your dad, that you didn't help.

I don't think you appreciate how much work (both on the record and off the record) goes into a day of trial or hearing.
Yeah, I wasn't trying to imply that judges/Lawyers aren't working outside the courtroom, just that it seems crazy inefficient of courtroom time. I also understand needing to take a break to reflect on all the information before a judgement has to come down that can have serious implications.
It just seems very slow moving. With a back log of cases and people waiting for trials/court dates. they should schedule these things for 1/2 days since that is all they are really doing. Hockey Canada Trial from 8-noon with a 30-minute break at 10. then at 1 they could do another trial with different lawyer's jury/judge etc. Maybe there is not enough judges for this scenario to work.

There is a huge judge shortage, not to mention court clerks and other staff.

I've just always assumed that the lawyers have set up a system for lawyers, by lawyers, for the benefit of lawyers.
Thus, when they say it is hard work, and long days, and stressful, the other lawyers all nod along in agreement to the hard work (billed in 15 minute increments, of course), long days (billed in 15 minute increments, of course), and stress (we must pause to deliberate seriously)....in order to propagate the system they have created!
Tongue firmly in cheek of course. But I mean, Jim Carrey does do a wonderful lawyer impression.....

My wife and I talked about this with our boys. Her thoughts exactly. My thoughts? There wouldn't be anywhere my son could hide that I wouldn't want to beat the holier sh$t out of him for being a scumbag for not sticking for someone in that situation.

i've been on the other end of this hosing when i was fighting my old employer. My lawyer told me that while annoying, take solace in knowing that my old employer's lawyer was pretty useless and was likely billing them insanely high. lol
Check the actual evidence. What is alleged is a single solitary "spank" on her bare buttocks. 🙂#↕️ Ur outrage and threatening to beat him up for it is laughable.
This whole case is a joke and should never have been brought to trial which will be one more and more evident when the defense presents their case.
Their was a reason the London police originally chose not to even press charges.
When you have not one but two videos of her very soberly saying she consented to and extremely consistent testimony from you very one in the room that she was asking for them to f her and to give them head the idea that a single smack on the butt is assault is ridiculous.
And yeah I saw the text message too. You really don't think that was a stupid 18 yr old kid just being hyperbolic in a message to a buddy your also out to lunch
I guarantee you they are all acquitted and the judge will in fact suggest this should never have even been brought to trial.
The typical over reaction(and threatening violence on them over your keyboard is e embarrasing) and presuming of guilt here and on many forums is an example of typical over reaction and woke indoctrination that is exactly why trump got elected in the USA and pp wasn't far off from winning here. . Did they have poor judgment in even entertaining what she was asking for. Sure they did. Is it criminal sexual assault. No way no how.

I just think it would be an awkward conversation no matter what, whether you thought is was consensual or not. Going home to your family and saying hey, I am involved in sexual assault allegation investigations, would make anyone nervous in any circumstances.

Any world that considers one smack on the butt equivalent to actual violent sexual assault and rape have lived a very sheltered and indoctrinated life.
You might not like it but a lot of people agree with me but are afraid to go against the grain and challenge the status quo of the woman is always innocent and every man accused is guilty which is not reality. No one is suggesting real sexual assault and rape should be fully prosecuted. But anyone who knows the real story here knows this case is absolutely a trial driven by money and only because they are well known hockey players and public sentiment against hockey Canada and young famous men.
