They deflect after embarrassing losses by fixating on something inconsequential to the end result but that they can pour their anger and manufactured sense of injustice and entitlement into.

Update: My oilers fan father in-law from Edmonton (who, as I said earlier, called our house to chirp when it was 3-1 oilers) never called back tonight. Hmmmmm... maybe he was having phone issues...

That's what disgusts me about these couple years of the oilers finally having some playoff success.
I love the NHl playoffs- the start of them is like christmas. Even if the flames aren't in it the level of intensity and play is a pleasure to watch. The first round is the best with 8 series going on.
But I hate the oilers so much (unhealthily so) that I can't watch any oilers games and really enjoy the game. I don't watch and just check the scores periodically. Couldn't watch game 7 last year for that reason.
So, I watch less playoff hockey because of those d-bags. Once they are eliminated it becomes fun again.

I see they're handling this loss well.

Uhh boy, a lot of people in this thread need to calm down.

The amount or absolute meltdowns after 2 periods of game 1 is unhealthy.

I weirdly get a feeling that people haven't watched a lot of hockey here, even though that's obviously not true.

You all should know that hockey is a game of momentum, and both teams will have it in almost every game. The winners are separated from the losers less by how often they can have momentum, and more by how they handle the momentum changes.

Dallas doesn't quit when they're down, they can hold the fort when the other team has momentum, and when they get momentum they tend to bury some pucks. That's how you normally win hockey games, not by a 60 minutes of total domination.

Dallas showed why they're here. This series isn far from over, but they are a good team.

Edmonton also showed why their goaltenders have such poor numbers, their defense was panicking when Dallas started pushing in the 3rd.

You should seriously call in the middle of the night. Say “6-3” and then hang up.

Good to see after Dallas went up 4-3 they didn’t do the LA/Vegas sit back and try to hold the lead. They kept forcing the forecheck and attacking offensively.

They also appear capable of hitting the empty net.

The best moment is on the Kane high stick penalty Nurse is being his usual ###### self on the face off to Duchene and you can tell Duchene just owns him with whatever he says. I’m saying to myself F would I love to see him score on this powerplay while Nurse is pyloning at the net as usual. I needed a cigarette.

Then Nurse after:

Is he though? Might want to check his career stas and the fact he's play played the VAST majority in the Ahl and he is 33. Hell even in his 7 games this playoffs he is sporting a whopping. 888% save percentage.

Outside of this year you have to go all the way back to the 16/17 season before he played any respectable amount of time in the nhl.

I hate to say it only because Skinner is only 26. I thought he was much older . He has the NHL stats you want to see outside this year. Skinner on another team probably does very well going foreward kinda like all ex Oiler goalies .

They’re such insufferable losers. To a lot of those goobers, the Oilers have never deserved a penalty. Ever.

Happy with the outcome but the Stars are recipe of scraping out wins while getting outplayed is eventually going to catch up to them. If they manage to get lucky and beat Edmonton, the Panthers will punish them for not showing up for 2/3's of games.

Crazy that DeBoer is now 5th all time in playoff wins as a head coach and no cups to show for it. If they get to the final he will likely surpass Dick Irvin.

“Goals have been going in a little differently, in different ways. Again, it’s a different series so they show us different things,” Skinner said. “The PK, it’s been a little bit up and down. It was bad at the start of the first round then got better. It was great all series against Vegas and (now) a struggle for one game. I mean, again, it's one game.”

Dallas needs to play better in Game 2 and get more pucks on Skinner at even strength.

I’d like to see Skinner in goal losing Games 3 and 4 in front of Sweatpants Nation.

I think the best thing for the Losers is for them to lose or win by 1 goal, or lose by empty net for the next 3-4 games. I'm not going so out of pocket I think they'll get swept. They'll win 1 or 2. But i'm hoping that Skinner plays some semblance of a decent few games, then when the Losers are up against it say down 3-2 in the series, he lays an absolute egg and it's entirely him and Nurse's fault they lose.

I've been called the pettiest fan by a few friends, but truly, my one joy if the Flames aren't making it, is to see the Coilers lose in absolute heartbreaking fashion. What causes the maximum amount of pain for the team and fans. It's why I cheered so hard when they lost last year in Game 7, albeit it was pretty darned close to me having to eat my hat.

As a Flames fan, all i want is maximum pain and suffering to the Losers and their fans.
