It's not childish, it's called sports fandom. The whole "wanting a Canadian team to win the Cup" thing is stupid and doesn't make sense in the realm of sports fandom IMHO. Nowhere else in the sporting world do you hear people wanting to cheer for their rival team to win the league championship or international championship just because they're from the same country or a similar region geographically. You don't see Tampa fans cheering for the Panthers to win it all just because they're both Florida teams. And you wouldn't see Liverpool fans cheer for Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League just because both teams are from England. It's dumb.
Now, it's totally fine to want to cheer for the 'Canadian' team if you haven't hitched your wagon to a specific team, but once you do I would argue it becomes downright insane to actually want to cheer for a rival team of yours once your team is eliminated.

Giant fans don't cheer on the Jets. Laker fans don't cheer on the Clippers. Eagle fans don't cheer on the Steelers. Flyers fans don't say do it for Pennsylvania when the Penguins are in the finals.
Seen some idiots post come on its Alberta, not it is not the Alberta Oilers. It is not the Team Canada Oilers.

I had a guy on my Facebook who is a Jets fan say he feels it's "mandatory" to cheer for the Oilers because he lives in Alberta.
He had a bunch of people including me tell him it's not including a woman who said her sister lives in Edmonton and is married to an Oilers fan but she isn't.

Last year I was told that I am a traitor to Canada because I'm not cheering for the Oilers. I legitimately contemplated breaking that guys nose... we have a long history of him being obnoxious and unwilling to leave me the hell alone in spite of my best efforts to avoid him. He's not smart and the first clue is him cheering for the Oilers. I don't like the Oilers, and they have a few players that make them easier to hate, but what really makes that team so detestable is their fans.

You do understand that playoff outcomes are not determined by a vote...right? And further, that your choice to "vote Canadian" and someone else's "childish bias" to cheer for anyone but the Oilers both have absolutely zero impact on the playoff outcomes?
Cheer for the Oilers, that's your right. Just like people on this forum have the right to judge you for that choice.
