Yeah, he looked like he really needed to work on his skating. Hopefully he can get there.

Kerins is a player I would look to sell high on, if they're packaging a trade for a bonified top 6 center.

I dont think he necessarily has a ton of trade value. MAYBE as an add in because he has some potential still. Similar to Schwindt in the Tkachuk trade imo

What could Florida's First, Kerins and Andersson get you?
( this is silly season after all)

I look at Kerins as a non-factor. Don't have a ton of faith he's a player in the Flames plans after another injection of talent into the organization after this draft, nor do I think he'd factor into any other team's trade targets.

That's fine. We can disagree.
His attributes, to me, scream that he's a tweener.
I don't think he has the pace for the NHL game.

That's because he is terrible. He is is the Wish version of Darnell Nurse. No thanks.

Kerins will not get us any assets of note in a trade, and for a team bereft of center talent in the pipes, is probably most valuable to us out of any club.
I think pace is something that can be worked on. Acceleration and edge work are what I personally think he needs, and that is gym time and skating coach time. Does he have the will to get there should be the big question, and I think a player that has worked up from the ECHL is not someone to short on will. Weegar is a good example.

The two players you're describing don't really play alike at all. Miller plays like taller TJ Brodie. Nurse wants to play like pronger.
Miller is way better than Darnell Nurse.

I didn't find his pace to be that bad, he can be better. You can hide those types of players but you also can't have that many of them on the roster.
I think all our calories should be spent on finding superstars somehow, either by pushing in a bit more for a bad season next season, or not wasting draft picks on middle 6 players and trying to use them for legit 23 or younger players.

Yeah I thought using Nurse as the comparison was an interesting choice. I don’t see a ton of similarities in how they play, personally.

Nurse and Miller are not similar at all in play, weird comparison. Miller is probably the better player actually.

I don’t see the playing style similarities between Miller and Nurse much myself but there must be something there for one to be considered a cheap knockoff of the other.

Andersson comparables:
Hronek
2023-Mar-01 Traded from Detroit Red Wings with round 4 pick in the 2023 draft (Ty Mueller) to Vancouver Canucks for conditional round 1 pick in the 2023 draft (Axel Sandin-Pellika) and round 2 pick in the 2023 draft (Felix Nilsson)
^ Hronek had 1.5 seasons left
Chychrun
2023-Mar-01 Traded from Arizona Coyotes to Ottawa Senators for conditional round 1 pick in the 2023 draft (Daniil But), conditional round 2 pick in the 2024 draft (Mikhail Yegorov) and round 2 pick in the 2026 draft
^ Had 2 and a half seasons left at the time of trade. Imo a bit of overpayment by Ottawa.
2024-Jul-01 Traded from Ottawa Senators to Washington Capitals for Nick Jensen and round 3 pick in the 2026 draft
^ Underpayment by Washington, Chychrun with a full season left.
So with those 2 trades with Chychrun, probably looking for something in the middle of those. I’d say Hronek is the better comparable on what we should be looking at.

Small tidbits:
Schaefer is still 1 for the Sharks. Misa-Martone is a 50-50 dead heat now at 2. Some Sharks scouts want Martone to be the selection and are pushing for it. They feel he could be the best offensive player of the draft. Sharks scouts feel Isles will take Schaefer so Misa-Martone will be taken at 2.
Also Sharks are looking to spend money in the UFA pool. I mentioned Ekblad being a target on defense in previous posts. Up front I was told Marner wouldn't be a realistic option. Guys like Ehlers, Boeser and Bennett were names thrown out.

Kerins definitely needs to work on his skating. I feel that small skilled guys absolutely better be quick and agile. If they can't get to pucks first, then they have to battle for more pucks (and often lose those battles). I think Kerins is arguably skilled enough for the NHL, but not quick enough. I think a lot of tweeners suffer from this, and just never become NHL'ers. We always assume that they can fix their skating, but many don't.
It is easier to be a big and a little bit slow since you can at least have other ways to contribute, but if you are undersized and slow, you get eaten alive. Kerins better be working hard on improving his skating, or he won't crack this team. It will only become harder in the next couple of years as junior players graduate into the NHL. Stromgren gets it, and hopefully Kerins was paying attention to Stromgrens' words. I am not writing Kerins off yet, but unless he improves his agility, his top-end speed and his overall pace to the game (motor), the NHL isn't in the cards for him. The talent is there, however, as is the IQ.

man, I don't think it likely but if i were Conroy I would be pitching this so hard.
basically anything outside of Parekh and Wolf on the table.
Basic outline
1 of Mews or Bzru
1 of Battaglia or Gridin (or basha)
1 Roster player (I would be fine if this were Coronato, though some wouldn't. Farabee, Zary are other potential examples.)
the 2 1sts we have this year
Just want Misa bad.

If you had the Misa pick would you trade him for that?
