You know Berube was probably stunned seeing what was happening. Considering how hard his Blues coach team played when they won the cup.
Matthew's just really isn't a good playoff player. He has all the physical make up to be dominant, but folds under pressure. Tavares is overrated. Nylander has his moments. Marner I think could thrive if he had some help from Matthew's.
Overall, it's pretty grim for the Leafs. They are stuck with Matthew's for the next few years. And he clearly isn't good enough. When they lose Marner they are likely a bubble playoff team.

I hope McDingleberry goes there.

As Steve Dangle put it, how do soccer players in Europe even get out of the bed in the morning. And in soccer, you don't get to hide behind a helmet or get to sit on the bench to collect yourself if you get booed.
Canadian hockey fans can get intense, but they're extremely well-mannered compared to a LOT of other fan bases around the world.

It’s Matthews not Matthew’s.

The Leafs should have traded Marner before his NTC kicked in. Every year they fail, and everyone says there needs to be change, and then the summer goes on and they start talking about giving it another chance.
Even now, I'm willing to bet there will be more than a few willing to point at the fact they took the defending Cup champs to Game 7 without their starting goalie and argue that they're getting closer.
Rinse and repeat.

Now they're going to lose two major assets for nothing. They don't have much in the way of assets. This is a franchise in big trouble.

Tavares and Marner are both coming back imo. The leafs have no draft picks, so they need to address their holes via UFA and trades. That means bringing back Marner and Tavares.
Knies is the most likely to be moved for help on the back end.

Knies is exactly what the Leafs need more of, not less. Tavares will be back because he's a center and will take a pay cut. Keeping Marner for the money he wants would be a huge mistake so I'm sure Treliving is on it.

It’s an internet peeve of mine - so many posts saying someone is “the worse”. Right up there with “he was so bias”.

I'm shocked he has a job because he's worse than Mike Millbury

Those two players weren’t brought in to provide offence. Not everyone is meant to be measured in goals and assists. Laughton was the Leafs’ best player last night.

Knies is probably overrated because he plays in Toronto and they score a lot - but he also tied for second on the team in playoff goals, and he's only 22. Can't see them trading him unless it's for a game-changer.

No, but part of the Leafs problem is lack of offense from their bottom 6 when the big guns get shut down. No goals from Laughton in 13 games is pretty terrible.

The Leafs looked overwhelmed from the opening puck drop like the moment was too big for them. At least this offseason there will finally be change as the core 4 ultimately was a failure as not even Berube could coach the stink out of them.
