I don't know...people said the same thing about Tampa when they lost to CBJ in round one and couldn't get over the hump.
Then same thing was said about Florida and then they made the Huberdeau- Tkachuk trade and it changed their trajectory.
We've said the same thing about Edmonton and they made the finals last year and looks like they will be final 4 at worst this year.
IMO the Leafs could win, but they needed to make a bold move to move out one of their high paid forwards for a different type of player (they tried to get Rantanen but he wanted to stick it to Colorado by going to Dallas) but they've kind of just shuffled chairs around the edges and spend a ton of assets bringing in non-elite talent (Treliving's MO)
Window isn't closed but they need to try something different. Issue is they spent all their assets and Marner is a UFA now.
A 1st round pick for...Scott Laughton.
Just insane.

So Leafs have made the playoffs 9 years in a row. Have made it to the 2nd round twice. And have won a total of 3 games after the first round. For the amount of talent on this team that is so depressing. Please blow it up.
Meh. Who can predict where players in the bottom half of the first round wind up in their careers.
The mock drafts suggest players like Ben Kindel, Cole Reschny or Braden Cootes could be available at 22, whereas all those players are projected to be gone by 29-32. That's my concern.

Remind me, what team do you cheer for?

If the Leafs can't come back I don't know where they go next. Marner probably gone. JT probably comes back, but how many times do you run the same core group out there. Or do they say Matthews wasn't healthy and that's why they give it another go.
His wrist is toast. He needs time to heal. I love his complete game, but he needs to score.

Look at every draft in the last 19 years and you will see players picked in the late 20s who are better than those in the early 20s. At that point it’s a crap shoot.
All of that was a whole lotta nothing. Refs were just trying to keep things under control in case things got out of hand. Not one Leaf pushed back. The Panthers were angrier about Robertson scoring than the Leafs were about losing by 5 goals.
Marner needs to go. How can they can they resign him after losing again? I just don't see it. Changes need to ne made. No 1st in 26 snd 27. It looks like cgy all over except few stars left

losing Marner for nothing doesn't make the Leafs better

Marner is leaving regardless from what I have heard since almost the start of the season.
