They just said they won’t enter an intersection unless they can clear it. Drivers that block an intersection are the absolute worst.

Quality of fast food has declined a lot. Or maybe all restaurants.

I try every place that opens, near me, about a month or two after they open (to get the kinks out). So I've tried a lot of places. Mostly through takeout, as it helps to have something to quickly take to work, on certain days.

I've recently had a stack of pancakes, with refined sugar sprinkled on top, and very low grade butter and syrup. I'm reminded of this, because I went to 5 Guys as a treat, as I haven't been there in about a year, and it was not entirely edible. The fries had table salt randomly attached to the potatoes, which were weirdly flavorless. The burger also less flavorful than remembered. Disappointing.

In the last few months, I tried a local Mexican place, where everything did not taste or have the texture of anyone who has every tried Mexican food, or met a Mexican. Next door is a place that makes higher end burgers, but the chef clearly didn't know what a burger was, and learned off youtube or something.

Just overall, the quality has taken a dip.

It does really stand out when something is done well, though. The chasm is wide.

I don't know about fast food, but I feel like we live in the golden age of dining out. There are so many great restaurants, there is no point in eating at the bad ones.

I don’t know how some fast food chains continue to exist when prices are so close. People have been fooled into believing fast food chains are a lot cheaper than non-chains.

Old people. Families with young kids. People who are not remotely adventurous eaters. Groups with diverse tastes who can’t agree on anything but the lowest-common-denominator (ie sports teams and work groups). People in the suburbs who don’t want to drive further than a km or two to dine out.

As a Boomer I draw the line at what those places are charging. The quality of the food and portions is generally bad given what we have to pay. I've become very selective as to where I eat out these days and finding a good place to eat out is getting harder.

Yes haha funny story, I almost crushed myself by overzealously unpacking it in a space that wasn't quite big enough for it. Thing must weigh 100 lbs or close to. Maybe more actually as i had a rough time even getting it up the stairs in the box.

That's not that heavy for a mattress. The one I just bought weighs 136lbs for a queen. This sucker weighs 184...

The prices at BP's are high if you buy the wrong things, but if you know what you're doing it's so consistently good no matter where you are in Canada and their lunch prices are actually super good.

As for my favourite restaurants right now...Aloha where Gaucho used to be on Macleod is out of this world. Best food ever.

Next best is in Bonavista Downs...an Indian restaurant called Leafy Grill. Amazing prices and such awesome food.

I just wish their menu options were consistent across Canada. In Regina when you order a Boston Brute- one of the options for your side is spaghetti.

Maybe it's for the best that isn't an option here.
