Columbus still has way too many toys at center without including a future Lindstrom into the mix.

I think if Marner was nda up leaving Toronto that Treliving will out all his cap space into a Knies extension and signing Bennett to be the long term 2C.

Don’t rule out Vladar signing with Calgary again.
Cooley’s downfall the last 3/4 of the season pretty much all but ruled out his readiness for the NHL.
Knies is arguably more important to Toronto than pretty much everyone right now, almost equal to Matthews. He’s going to be paid, and Marner will be the odd man out.
Tavares will sign a team friendly deal to stay.

I am hoping that Vladar stays. He was looking better and better the further he got from his surgery. I also think it is to Wolf's benefit that we not play him 60+ games in his second season.
Splitting them 50/30 would be good for both and the Flames could always work with Vladar to move him to a team that needs a starter should the opportunity come up.

Vladar seems well liked in the room, gets along with Wolf, and put up respectable numbers this season. Hope he stays.

The same Kessel that would show up to camp overweight every year?
Or the Kadri that would take stupid penalties in the playoffs and never have the discipline to win?
That's some revisionist history.
Zegras may or may not turn into anything, but he wouldn't be the first highly skilled player written off to then turn into a winner.
I actually don't think he's what the Flames need, but could definitely see him going to a team where he's a little sheltered from being the main man, gets better line matchups and starts contributing a lot.
Much like the 2 guys above did.

Does Vladar sign a shot term contract incase a starting position opens? 1 - 2 years at a moveable value?

The nice thing with having too many centers is, you can play some on the wing.

Like Sam Bennett.
Sorry, I just had to.

I was down on Vladar midway through the season, but he played very good down the stretch. Definitely would like him back for the right price.

I wouldn't be surprised if they agree to let the market decide Vladar's value, similar to what they did with Zadorov a few seasons ago. Vladar is at the point now where he might want test his mettle somewhere where he has a chance to be a number 1 or at least a platoon guy. Some goalies need to play a lot to reach their potential. If the offers don't come in after a few weeks, bring him back in.
I like Vladar and think he has shown some potential to be more, plus he is a good team guy it seems. Another thing I like is that it gives the Flames a big goalie so they can practice against 2 goalies with two different styles.

They also have some decent wingers too.
At some point players will get frustrated with limited top 6 time and PP time.

With the islanders moving on from Lou and winning 1st overall. Maybe they look to move barzal in a somewhat hockey trade.
Barzal would be a nice addition. Good age. Ok contract. Right handed.

I love Barzal.
I predict he is going to MTL though for some of their (our) first round picks and a D prospect.

Lou might stay on nd we don’t know who the gm is. Plus they signed Roy for 3 years. I can’t see them blowing it up.

While I doubt there was ever buy low opportunities to attain Kent Johnson last offseason, it may have been the lone chance the Jackets may have entertained trading him for a decent return coming off a poor 23/24 season.

The contract is manageable but prepare to be underwhelmed. He's not an elite player and the Flames already have a lot of guys that are good but not elite.

If the Islanders decide they like Misa, maybe we can use L. Misa + 1 of mews or bzru, and a pick to get Barzal.

Agreed. Barzal is way overrated IMO.
