They are derplorable bandwagoners that went to the bar with a group of Oiler fans for game one without the proper attire and didn't feel truly part of the cult and figured they better get coiled up for tonight's public intoxication and assaults.
Oilers fans are absolute scum for trying to equate those 2 things. One team tried to support a player who said he had mental health issues, the other waits until a felon is guilty so they can get them cheaper
Why do people hate the oilers? it's the fans and the players. Not the actual "understand hockey" fans, the rest.

I had the "pleasure" (burden more like it) of speaking with one of the unwashed yesterday. I understand fandom...great for the city and all of that. playoff runs generate that in every city so not "better" or "exclusive".
It's the inevitable "Flames nowhere" that's the giveaway. Real fans understand that the teams are on different arcs...and the GreasePigs' arc is now trending down as an organization. I was hoping for a 2006 and later post-Carolina crash in 2024/5...but that might be delayed. It will happen though. I just want that crash now. immediately. Like Vegas sweep from here.

^ 100% they shouldn't have even been allowed to be in that draw, the Oiler rule should have always been a rule. Being as poor as they were in Draft and Development after multiple first overall picks.
I never liked them before, but man after that draft it will forever be E=NG.
I would suggest that we all hated the Oilers just as much before they lucked out on the draft but they were so bad that we just didn't care about them. They were where we wanted them to be and all was right but soon as they appeared to have success we hated it and it heightened our emotions.

They luck their way into a lottery win and their 4th 1st overall pick in a 6 year span.
And instead of being modest about it...act like somehow they earned and deserved that 1st overall pick and that they did something special to deserve it.
That organization and fan base deserves nothing, but gets gifted everything, and somehow still act like they did something special to earn it.
This moning I had to leave the safety of St.Albert and take my Mom to Edmonton for a medical appointment. I saw an advertisement on one of those digital Billboards this morning that was flashing a giant 0.4 and underneath in smaller lettering it said Go Knights Go. It was for a Tavern but I can't recall the name. I might have to go back and wait for that ad to flash again.
