I actually feel like Parekh should still be there. Spurgeon is not that great. Also kind of surprised Power wasn't asked/ isnt there. I feel like he's a big piece for Canada's LD going forward.
Yeah, I feel like you're telling on yourself a little bit with that comment about Spurgeon.
not expecting another miracle for Austria, given we're missing our best forward (Rossi) and our most promising defenseman (Reinbacher) ... and the important games are to come later in the tournament (against France and Slovenia), but being a goalie interference review away from tying it up against Finland with 5 minutes left to go is not bad at all.
now leading against Sweden with 5 minutes to go ...

Switzerland beat the USA 3-0 in a pretty dominant game today. Fiala, who won the silver medal last year and was the tournament MVP, had an assist and hit the post twice.
It would be cool is the Swiss became more of a hockey power.
Any additions to the club of "big" hockey countries would be nice.
With Russia out ans Czechs and Slovaks often struggling to gather good teams, the club of "big hockey countries" feels a little small.
(I also have some cynicism towards Team Finlands future, mostly because I suspect we're likely to see some bad coaches waste what's a fairly good generation of players.)

Austria very lucky today, as I think Slovakias final shootout attempt should have been taken again (forward was tripped by the goaltender).
great result though, obviously. They played well against both Finland and Sweden, but came up empty-handed, so I'm happy they were able to take Slovakia to the shootout. Canada game is a write off (just don't get murdered), then on to the really important games to avoid relegation.

And they got the shrimps on the barby on time!

Switzerland and Germany have made big strides in the last decade. They’re producing elite players these days, but they still lack the depth of the big five nations. They might eventually catch Finland.
CAN, USA, SWE, RUS, FIN
CZE, SWI, GER, SVK
