Honzek is in a weird place right now. Value wise. He's not a super exciting prospect and his trajectory has been like the stock market since Trump started the tarriffs.

But I still think there's something there. I think unless it's a blockbuster where you have to move players that you like, a Honzek trade is something this team could regret.

Center or wing he has a style that is kind of missing from this group.

It's currently a ridiculously unfair comparison right now, but at the draft wasn't he likened to a "poor man's Rantanen"?

That's a guy you keep around.

I would think Detroit would have to add in this scenario because Larkin is older and his most productive season is not as impressive Pettersson’s most productive season. Not sure if either team would have interest in this kind of trade but it’s a hockey trade rather than a rebuild trade for either team. Kind of reminds me of the Tkachuk-Huberdeau trade.
Larkin says no.

Not so sure about that. Listening to recent podcasts from the Athletic Wheeler or Pronman (I have a hard time keeping who is who sometimes) says McQueen is a better prospect than Lindstrom who was taken 4th last year with similar injury concerns. That also leads me to believe McQueen could be long gone by the time we get to 10OA anyway.

What's your idea of a boatload? I doubt he even considers signing an offer sheet for under $9.5m. as good as he is I wouldn't pay that kind of price in picks

With Larkin you know what you are getting.

Pettersson’s has regressed badly over the last two years, so is an extreme risk.

Larkin would currently have more trade value.

We did just fine building around a small player before. If Rossi is available don’t be shocked at Conroy knocking on the door.

Flames wouldn’t be building around Rossi just adding a skilled piece to the third lowest scoring team in the NHL. Still need to draft skilled centres.

Yeah the Flames need upper end skill at forward. Even adding just one piece like Rossi could open things up throughout the line up.

Exactly. Flames are never tearing it all down have to grab young skilled players where you can and draft skilled centers and try and find the next Braydon Point or Joe Nieuwendyk.

If we were able to get Rossi we do have some size on wing to offset the smaller players up the middle.

Klapka (if he continues his end of year), Huberdeau, Sharangovich, Farabee, Pospisil are all over 6 ft and strong.

With Honzek, Basha, Battaglia, Suniev, Stromgren in the pipeline matching that criteria as well.

Ya the Flames should be in on Rossi if he is available. You can find big size guys like Jason Wiemer in the trade market or spend a top 10 pick on them.

Rossi is also listed at 182 lbs, 7 lbs heavier than Brayden Point although 2 inches shorter.

Someone needs to measure the dudes arms. If he's thick and has wingspan then his height doesn't matter.

Think you're overestimating what a couple excellent players can do for a team, when that's all that team has. San Jose had Celebrini, Eklund and William Smith with great seasons but they're still dead last by a good job. You could make the case via position with Wolf but Parekh might win Rookie of the Year with a Point per Game season and the Flames could still finish last.

Let’s not go there. Rossi is not half the player Crosby is.

Correct.

SJ is about 6 dmen from a good rebuild.

It’s why Chicago is quite a bit ahead of them. Their dmen are basically set.

The Knight trade was a huge addition.
