Plus the Flames get something out of it if the Leafs move on, it keeps the Florida pick at 22 instead of 29-32.

I'd rather the Jets win the cup.

I guess the point is that Rossi will be elite. That is why the Flames should consider trading for him.

Rossi would be a top 3 forward on this team.
Similar caliber to Coronato. Definitely a step above Farabee or Frost.
Since the flames are probably not bottoming out, he's the type of player the flames need to risk it on.

Yup him and Misa are pretty much idential in terms of OHL performance.
Rossi had a NHLe of 53, Misa has an NHLe of 51
Rossi development was a bit stalled due to his battle with COVID in his Draft+1.
But he's rebounded with 3 pretty good seasons since then, progressing every year.
IMO he still has top line center potential and is the type of guy you'd be hoping to get with a top 10 pick anyways.

If Rossi was 6’ he would be untouchable around the league. He would absolutely be the guy I’d go for if available. Easily a great center that could battle Kadri for the top spot.

He is like Zegras, a center who has been talked about ad nauseam on this forum except he is younger and can actually play hockey. I would be all over Conroy getting Rossi. If Guérin is dumb enough to trade him we should be the team smart enough to trade for him.

Does Rossi have an injury history or was he just sick all the time? I can't remember. But he he's played every game for 2 seasons now.
Small guys need to be durable. Though as small as Rossi is, he's only 4 lbs lighter than Samuel Honzek...

If I were the Wild I'd probably start with a package around Zary/Coronato + Gridin/Basha

For that reason, if major upgrades with tons of potential left like Rossi are available, you go after them. He might instantly be our best center. This isn’t a Frost, Farabee, or Sharangovich type of acquisition where we’re slotting guys into the middle.

I think Rossi will go cheaper than people think. If the Wild are concerned about his size then I bet a lot of other teams are as well. If they could get a guy like Coronato then he’d probably already be gone.

If true I think Calgary would be wise to offer something along the lines of 18th OA and Honzek. Or Florida’s 1st and a little more from our end.

I would guess given their lack of draft capital you might be able to get him for the Devils first and Honzek or something like that. I am not sure the Wild want to take back salary for him.

Heard an interesting idea from a Detroit fan today… Who says no in a Larkin for Pettersson trade?
Larkin turns 29 this summer and has 6 years left on his deal at $8.7 million AAV.
Pettersson is 26 and has 7 years left on his deal at $11.6 million AAV.
I would think Detroit would have to add in this scenario because Larkin is older and his most productive season is not as impressive Pettersson’s most productive season. Not sure if either team would have interest in this kind of trade but it’s a hockey trade rather than a rebuild trade for either team. Kind of reminds me of the Tkachuk-Huberdeau trade.

I certainly wouldn't add if I were Detroit, that Pettersson contract could be an absolute disaster
