I won 6000$ last year. Had absolutely no idea, it was a sponsor item so it came in an envelope from the travel agent. Thankfully my wife opened it, I thought it was just recylcing.

My sister won $30,000. on a scratch ticket, and her daughter, my niece, won a $15,000. boat on "roll up to win" at Tim Hortons. She didn't even buy coffee at the time, she bought tea instead.
It's amazing how one's luck runs in 3s. In one month years ago, my wife won a free trip to Mexico, $ 2,000. at bingo, and a new washer and drier.

I won a lifetime supply of Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer once. It was a 4 pack once a month for a year.
i knew someone (was their banker) who won the home who had lived in much cheaper accommodations prior. They couldn't afford the upkeep so they got a credit line on the home and then sold it after 6 months or a year. I can't remember how long they had to hold the home for before selling it, but they couldn't just sell it.
