It is. It can cost a lot in bandwidth charges.

No worries, just set up a Photobucket account and link to them from there.

(That also gets around my firewall issue).

Thats an unneccesarily long trip for a pint of Keith's to make. You could probably walk to their brewery and pick one up before the CP one got there.

So I don't think this deserves a new thread, but I did want to vent because I'm pissed, so I thought, why not here?

Working from home and planning to go out of town for the weekend, I needed to do a bit of laundry first. So I throw a load in the washer and start working meaning to get back on my first break or sooner if I can manage it. Well, I can't manage it so it's two hours later when I go to check on my laundry. Seems my neighbour came home in the time I was on the phone and decided she wanted to do laundry too. Well that's fine you say? She can just take your load out and put hers in... sure she can. Absolutely. But she doesn't just do that. No no, she puts my load in the dryer too. I suppose it's my fault for putting my change on the dryer, but I also put my laundry detergent on the laundry machine so people would know I wasn't done. Anyways, the point is, she shrunk half my load. I buy a lot of clothes that are hang to dry. You have to hang them for a reason. If you don't, they shrink. So now I have about $250 worth of clothes that now look like dung because someone decided to be helpful. You can't even get mad at a person for that! They were trying to be nice! And yet my new white skirt, my lime green twinset, my acovado green hoodie, all too small for me, and she also put my bras in the dryer! You'd think she'd know better! I'm so pissed. That was my favorite skirt, and she's ruined it. I think I can stretch out the sweaters, (which really isn't a great idea either, but I can't afford new stuff, so the only option I have,) but my white skirt looks like crap now. *sniff* So mad.

That sucks. But, hey, at least your laundry room doesn't make you dry heave when you go down there from the smell of dog feces. The guys downstairs haven't house-trained the pup and have decided the lineoleum in the laundry is easier to clean than they're carpet so they leave him in there.

Bandwidth theft or "hotlinking" is direct linking to a web site's files (images, video, etc.). An example would be using an <img> tag to display a JPEG image you found on someone else's web page so it will appear on your own site, eBay auction listing, weblog, forum message post, etc.

Bandwidth refers to the amount of data transferred from a web site to a user's computer. When you view a web page, you are using that site's bandwidth to display the files. Since web hosts charge based on the amount of data transferred, bandwidth is an issue. If a site is over its monthly bandwidth, it's billed for the extra data or taken offline.

A simple analogy for bandwidth theft: Imagine a random stranger plugging into your electrical outlets, using your electricity without your consent, and you paying for it.

Thanks Dion...I do it too sometimes...but I try not too. Its easier to just save the picture on your computer...upload it to imageshack or something, and host it.

Actually you can get angry at your neighbor. It's pretty much an unwritten rule of shared washers and dryers that if you're moving someone elses stuff it must be A) done; and B) you don't put it in the dryer. When someone does something stupid while trying to be nice (and pre-empting your washing isn't nice to begin with), the stupid often has more sway than the nice.

On photobucket, you can just use the URL to upload instead of having to download it onto your computer then uploading it to a server. That makes life much easier.

And I'm surprised The Prez hasn't answered the first lady yet...
