I'll be surprised if we trade Andersson at all before the trade deadline. I think it'll either be a re-sign or trade at the deadline for a mediocre return. Not that I doubt Conroy, but I'm guessing Andersson isn't going to have the trade value we hope for.

Personally I'd like to move him before the season starts and not have to play the waiting game. The teams better off not waiting for the other shoe to drop all season, and knowing that whoever is in the room is who they have to work with and depend on.

If he played this well with a rag tag group of defenders, I think he's going to take a big step next year and really round out his game.

We will find out after the worlds and before the draft. I think the writing is on the wall and Anderssons going to tell the Flames he's moving on. I believe him when he says he's trying to be as honest as possible and what he said during garbage bag day was honest. He'll talk to his family, then they'll decide his first and maybe only opportunity to explore free agency is too much to pass up.

Which in that span of time Conny will get on the horn and work something out.

I think the odds of getting a great package for Ras from the sharks could also depend on who goes 1. If Schaefer ends up theirs at 2 I could see them slightly less urgent to make a huge splash.

I think both Ras and the Flames would prefer to either get a deal done or trade done this off season. While they both could go into the season, I suspect that it's not palatable to either, particularly if the Flames was to build of this season's success.

Pionk getting signed and Sharks falling to two is the best case scenario for the Flames if they're trading Ras. Outside of signing Dobson or Bouchard to a big offer sheet, there's a really big RD drop off after Ekblad and only one team gets to sign him.

Not saying Sharks will pay the price, as who knows if Andersson sees a longer term fit there, but they should at least help in the bidding.

Blues are saying Torey Krug probably won't play again. Maybe they would be interested in Andersson.

If I'm Ras, I would gladly take a long term deal in SJ. Great location, team on the rise. They're going to be a contender very quickly with the pieces they've got already

Why would you thinknext years group is a better D corps? Wolf had a great year. Lots of sophomores have a difficult time. I'm not fussed if he does as well.

Our best course of action is doing exactly what Conroy is doing right now; nothing. We have the cap space to make the extensions necessary, such as Coronato, soon to be Wolf, and Zary. We also could still overpay for a solid veteran on a 2–3 year deal, hopefully a defenseman that can play in the top 4. I was thinking someone like Orlov or Provorov. To stay on the topic of "nothing", we have 4 picks in the top 64, we'll find some talent there. And another 2 picks in the top 32 next season. We need to be patient, especially with our prospect pool still fresh and still needing development and seasoning.
Conroy is not doing nothing. There's been almost an entire roster turnover. The Flames are building from within, but have also brough in Frost, Sharangovich, and Bahl.

Conroy is being very particular about who he's bringing in. I'm sure if the opportunity to bring in a young superstar player on a big contract came about, he would dive all over it.

He's not panicking and throwing money at every big UFA, but he's definitely not doing nothing. My guess is that Conroy is one of the more active GMs in the league. Conroy is picking his spots.

San Jose’s 2026 1st round pick (top ten protected)
Bystedt
Why does SJ need Calgary or want to retain for next year?

They have 43 million in cap space

Here is the best SV% all time for a rookie goalie

https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/hig...ie-in-a-season

A mix of goalies who went on the superstar careers and goalies who's rookie season was their best year

Many Many great rookie goalies do not take the next step and regress.

It's entirely possible Wolf has a down season next year as shooters adjust

I don’t believe the Rasmus saga will drag on, both sides want resolution this summer.
From what I’ve heard, there’s mutual interest in moving on.
Now, with that said it’s all about maximum value and I do think he holds significant value more so in the summer than the deadline.

I’m expecting him to be moved at the draft, but purely on my own intuition.

Max value for Ras would be either somewhere he'll re-sign or traded at the full retention (or both). Based on previous rumour and them being at the limit, I can see the caps being a good spot.

If this is the case, does Anderson get pick#9 from Buffalo?

We've heard that SJ isn't on his no-trade list, but I highly doubt Buffalo isn't.

Or maybe Ras + 1st for Will Smith if they think Misa has more upside than Smith.

I agree. I guess what I meant in nothing was making a rash decision and trying to always spend the cap like Treliving was, especially on players we didn’t need to be signing.
