Not as old as Chris Weinke was when drafted but he's older than several QB's already playing in the NFL. I guess the thinking is that he will be more mature and ready to start while the downside may be that he's already close to his peak.

Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler share a birthday. Shough is a year older however.

Yep, funny stat. Given Shough's age, and the fact he was hand-picked by Kellen Moore to run his offence, Rattler will need to clearly win that training camp QB battle if he wants to start. If it's close, it'll default to Shough.

so after Lawrence Taylor didn't give up #56, Abdul Carter got denied by Phil Simms for #11 as well.
Crazy idea, but maybe pick a number that isn't retired?! ...

Seems kinda obvious what to do here...
 56 (LT is greatness) - 11 (Simms is poverty) = 45.

calling it a "football decision" in their statement is certainly a choice.

The fact he was coming off a pretty poor season (by his standards) gives them enough plausible deniability. And because of that + the non-football issues it might be a while before someone picks him up.

I just want to communicate how disappointed I am the Raiders drafted Tommy Mellott. That kid is going to have a career. It could have been literally any other team!!

I hope you are right about his career. Are you a Broncos or Chiefs fan or something?

Not that I'd want anything to do with Pickens long term, but since the Steelers are likely all-in with Rodgers this year, and seeing as they're only getting a third rounder in this trade which is the same they'd get as a comp pick if Pickens left as FA, they must really have hated dealing with him to not suffer for one more year to maximise their team.

they clearly weren't going to pay him, but paid Metcalf instead. I'm sure that was a problem.
Hoped for a 2nd, but it is what it is. They probably prefer the 3rd in 26 to the comp pick in 27, which makes sense. Several comp picks in 26 coming in for Moore, Fields, Wilson and Harris too, so they'll have ammunition to trade up for a QB. Cotrect play now would be to not sign Rodgers and instead ride with Rudolph towards a high pick, but pride will get in the way as usual. Then again, I think they'll go 9-8 either way.
