That's what I was wondering... guess for those of us that watch the movies and don't read the books there should have been a Spoilers tag attached.

Don't quote me on this, but I recall Dumbledore having some throwaway line in the second or third book when he was talking about being old and Voldemort's death and stuff. Something about how death can make you more powerful. Something to that effect. Anyway, I think Dumbledore's death at the hands of Snape was probably his own idea. The only way to become powerful enough to combat the Dark Lord. Snape would probably be one of the few wizards around well enough versed in the Dark Arts to pull it off. Plus, it would help Snape maintain his cover as a member of the Order infiltrating the Death Eaters. I'm betting we havent' seen the last of Dumbledore.

I second this little theory, although Dumbledore is dead, I beleive his presence will be felt in this last book.
I'm excited to give this one a read, guess I should order it soon then shouldn't I?

Dumbledore has known about the moment of his 'death' for a long time, isn't that why he had been doing that memory thing where you can go back and live through certain moments?? I dont remember what it was called. One of the reasons why I believe Dumbledore isn't dead is because of what you just said, the one person that Voldemort in a way did fear was Dumbledore and as long as Dumbledore was around he would always protect Harry, but it was high time Dumbledore got out of the way so Harry could use his full potential to take on Voldemort. IMO Dumbledore knew as long as he was around Harry wouldn't do this. Voldemort also knew that if he (Dumbledore) was still alive he could use Dumbledore to get to Harrys softside, and Dumbledore didn't want this. Also this way Dumbledore could still help out Harry without Voldemorts knowing. I think you're right when you say this helps Snapes cover as well, whats the ultimate way of prooving your loyalty to the dark side? by 'killing' Dumbledore, that's why I believe this has been planned from the beginning.
Another thing wasn't the reason why Dumbledore never made Snape the teacher of Defense against the Dark Arts because there is a curse??? that no one can do that job for more then 1 term? and he needed Snape to help Harry too fight off Voldemort and that's why I think Snape is good not bad.

ya im pretty hyped about this new book also... a couple of things that i think are going to happen/predictions:
As mentioned before Harry or his scar is a horticurse and will have to kill himself to rid the world of voldemort.
Snape and Malfoy are going to turn out to be a good guy in the end and save Harry when he is in need.
RAB in the note was Sirus's brother Regus Black... he was mentioned in Order, that he was a death eater. Also in that book was a necklace that was found that no one could open is one of the horticurses, possibly the one that he stole and saved by that house elf.

Can't wait for the book as well, so excited.
I also think Dumbledore will be in the 7th book somehow.
Saw the movie last night, I thought it was fantastic.

I think Harry Potter has to die. Theres a price to pay for subtracting evil.
At the very least he'll be crippled emotionally and wont be able to return to the world.

wouldn't be a surprise if Neville turned out to be the one who kills Voldermort?
This is the prophesy
"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."
Neville is born on July 30th.

But the Dark Lord must mark him as his equal according to the prohecy. He certainly hasn't done that with Neville at this time while it can certianly be argues he has with Harry Potter. I thought in one of the books this was brought up and Dumbledore said in no uncertain terms that it was Harry and not Neville because of precisely that. Now of course Dumbledore could be wrong or playing some misdirection.
Neville will be a key part of the anti-Voldemort alliance there is no doubt about that or they wouldn't have spent as much time giving him a backbone the last few books. I just don't think he is the guy the prophecy speaks of.
A prediction that I think may come to pass is here:

That was at the end of OotP when he is telling Harry about the prophecy.

IF Dumbledore planned his own death then it was for a reason, ie/ he holds some special powers that only one person can have, and he was basically giving them to Harry. I think they will make Harry even more powerful, or maybe even they'll make him have Dumbledore's insight or something.

The prophecy isn't about Neville according to JK Rowling:
http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/en/faq_view.cfm?id=84
This may be a pipe dream but I'm really hoping that none of the theories being discussed come to pass in the book. I want something nobody thought of and completely shocking.

Hermione isn't really a "mudblood" rather, she's Voldemort's daughter and kills Harry and marries Draco who can't deny the lure of power!
