While I agree, and think Vegas are the favorites I wouldn't say it's a given they will win. Hill has looked shaky, Eichel and Stone only showed up late in the series. McDrai always gives the Oilers a chance, you can never count them out.

I want the best teams left to ensure the Oilers can't make it all the way. Dallas was lousy against Edmonton last year, but adding Rantanen, Granlund, and the rest of the new cast must give them the edge.

Bednar didn’t trade Mikko Rantanen.

Put the GM’s head on a pike.

Metaphorically…

What a shame that one of those teams had to get eliminated in round1.Brutal.

One series win for the Avalanche since winning the cup and having to pay MacKinnon. As great as he is...seems like as soon as you have a player making more than 10 million...that cup thing becomes really hard to win.

That would really sting as an avs fan. Imagine the flames had ended up playing FLA in the playoffs after we traded chucky, and he torches us and knocks us out of the playoffs.

Hope Dallas does better this year than last year if they face Edmonton again. Was hoping for Colorado to win this game simply because I think they match up better against the oilers. I think Dallas is for sure better team than the oilers but if the refs decide to start calling a bunch of penalties in the series, the advantage would tip towards Edmonton. If Colorado were to face Edmonton and the refs call a bunch of penalties, I think the Colorado powerplay would be just as productive as the oilers powerplay.

Basically this:

Series with few penalties and lots of 5–on-5:
Colorado beats Edmonton
Dallas beats Edmonton

Series with lots of penalties:
Colorado beats Edmonton
Dallas loses to Edmonton

Hoping Vegas takes care of Edmonton in the second round so I can enjoy the rest of these playoffs. If not - Winnipeg or Dallas: please, please stop them.

Colorado's GM has egg on his face. Chose poorly.

Well, go Dallas (also, go Vegas, go caps, go panthers, go Winnipeg) until the oil are eliminated.

Still on a Hockey Dads group chat from our time living in Colorado.

It’s pretty grim down there…

Another factor is that Edmonton beat Dallas last year's playoff, will they get in Ottinger's head? He let in quite a few softies.

Iginla vs Vancouver in game 7 was legendary. All 3 periods plus overtime.

Nobody here doesn’t think Iggy is legendary

This was against his old team, that he said he didn’t want to leave. The context adds a dimension that many good performances don’t have

Unbelievable for DeBoer to be 9-0 in game 7s. Even if you are an elite coach that excels in do or die strategy and motivation, you’d still statistically expect to lose at least once.

I’m just a little upset here. Colorado should have won.

I hate the Stars and their stupid fans chanting USA and losers like Jamie Benn who should never win a cup.

Was a bad season for the GM of the Avs for sure.

The Rantanen trade wasn't the worst in itself, but it backfired once he got traded back to their biggest division rival:

And then they trade Ritchie and a 1st for Nelson which was a terrible trade the second it was made
