Really hope Monahan gets this award. Been through so much adversity this year. Obviously well beyond the adversity of injury.

Costco good, but Monny gets my imaginary vote.

I'd prefer Costco gets it, but only because, lets be honest, he's had a lot less going on in his career, he could use a win.

But Monahan is more than equally deserving.

Must read. The curtain is rarely if ever pulled back around Monny. I miss him. But I'm also so happy to hear he's found happiness in playing again. And just further affirmation what a rock Merideth is

Edit - might be stuck behind a paywall, but I'm able to read on my android phone. I think you can read on apples too if you turn on reader mode

Also, it's on The Athletic.

I love Monny so damn much. Seeing him thrive warms the soul. He hit 51 points in 50 gp today too, so he's still got his scoring mojo.

$1 per month - there is always a sale going on.

Great article. Brad Treliving is despicable.

BT being despicable certainly wasn't one of my main takeaways from the article.

It's my take away any time Sean is mentioned and I am reminded why he is not here.

He missed 25 games this season. Using his goals and points per game, he would have had 30 goals and 85 points over 82 games. (I know that's not how reality works.)

85 would have been a career high and his 30-goal pace is very much a return to form for a guy who's had his career obliterated by injuries (and his personal life obliterated by a drunk driver).

Should have been (and should still be) our Captain.

Monahan is a finalist for the Masterton Trophy, along with Landeskog and Fleury

Yeesh. If there was ever a desire to have a perfect 3 way tie for the award, this year's is it.

Landy seems like the obvious choice, but he literally didn't play a game in the regular season. He should get it next year.

Fleury - great story, but perseverance and dedication to hockey? Love the guy but this season was just a victory lap. You don't get an award just because people like you lol.

Monny - suffered both physically and emotional injury, and that counts too. There were so many goddam layers to that tragedy that it was amazing Mony had the conviction to keep going, and have a really strong year.

Monny has my love and my vote.

I would give this to Monahan.

Fleury is...old? Landeskog didn't play any games this season. He's back for the playoffs, but can you even look at playoff games for this award?

Seems almost like a Monahan win by default.

If the playoffs are part of the consideration then Landy has a strong case.
Has anyone come back from such a lengthy injury like he has?

That being said, would love to see Monny get it.

Monahan should be a good choice, but I think to many won't matter that Landeskog didn't play in the season - the fact that he was working toward it for 3 years may be enough for some voters.

The voting was done at the end of the season. Landy hadn't played any games yet.

They are not "finalists", they are simply the top 3 in the already held voting.

This is Monny's award for sure.
