It was a good run but clearly was the end of the line as there was nothing more he could get out of that group. It will be interesting to see where he resurfaces as I expect several teams will have interest. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in NY coaching the Rangers.

I’m undecided on what I think of him. I think back to the Athletic article about Burke and crew being brought in to rebuild the team, then Sullivan and players revolting and ultimately making it a power struggle. I’m not a Burke fan but almost every team after a long run and aging assets, needs to rebuild. To get screwed over by your coach was not good. The time to rebuild was years ago for them. Now they’re clearly in a pickle. He supported his players which is a good thing but he had to manage that better years ago and instead chose a side that was clearly wrong.

I think that as long as Sidney Crosby intends to play, the Penguins will try to be competitive. They've already won the cups, so I think their fans will be fine with it until then. If I'm a Pens fan, I would think I would rather have this than see Crosby in a Vegas Golden Knights jersey or something

They have little assets to trade because of that approach. He’s a great player but they really should deal him.

I was thinking the same thing but for Sullivan. He's a good coach. Teams should be highly interested in his services over the summer.

10 years is an eternity in NHL coaching jobs. They didn't do well this year because the team is pretty bad and their best players are aging (although Crosby is seemingly timeless). He's not leaving because he can't coach, just that the team needs to start making changes.

Carle just took himself out of the running for the Blackhawks job, maybe he knew something and wants this one for....reasons?

I would not be shocked if the Rangers signed him.

I have seen rumours that he is the #1 target for the Rangers. Pretty sure he was an assistant in New York under Torts.

How extremely frustrating would it be a fan of another team and see them go From Lemieux to Crosby to McKenna.

I'd be broken. I'd be very tempted to just change my allegiances instead of suffering any longer.

Colorado has finally broken up the axis of evil with MacKinnon and Makar.

But it seems my whole life have had all the top stars go to Pittsburgh and Edmonton.

Messier, Coffey, Gretzky, McDavid and I guess Draisaitl.

Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby ... maybe Malkin

They don't win the 1st cup without Malkin

Wings drafted some pretty good ones as well in Lidstrom, Yzerman, Datsyuk, Fedorov.
