Hanley has played very well with Weegar this season and Weegs himself has nothing but great things to say about Hanley.
Not saying Hanley is a top 4 defender but if he plays well with Weegar, that’s all that matters.

Could see Florida swapping Ekblad for Nik.
Carolina would probably entertain it too.

The Canes registered Nikishin's contract today. He is eligible to play in the playoffs.

"We had agreed with his agents to keep the options open for Alex to potentially play a game [with the Chicago Wolves] at some point," said Tulsky in a statement. "But with their season now over, it makes sense to officially register an NHL contract for him, and we're excited for his future with the team."

Depends on what your takeaway is from that situation.
- Is it a special chemistry that enables Weegar to help Hanley go from a waiver claim to a top 4 defender?
- Or, is Weegar talented enough that he could help any player play at a higher level than they could otherwise?
Mapping out what I would hope to see next season: - If Weegar could help Solovyov or Kuznetsov transition to the big club and play at Hanley's level then that would be a pretty big win for the development of our prospects.
- Solovyov looked like he had pretty good chemistry with Pachal in short time they got to play together. Maybe we could give that experiment some more time to pan out.
- Bahl has been solid all season. Perhaps he can be the guy to help bring Parekh in and be the steady big defender playing alongside the dynamic offensive defender.
- Keep Bean and Miromanov on deck to rotate in for the 3 rookies. Kuznetsov/Solovyov/Bean rotating on LD and Parekh/Miromanov taking reps on RD.
Kuznetsov - Weegar
Bahl - Parekh
Solovyov - Pachal
Bean - Miromanov

There were rumours of bad blood between him and the team for not registering his contract prior to the playoffs.
Seems to be fine now, they just did it!
Can ignore, it was more so in response to people thinking Andersson would be enough.

I agree Hanley was pretty solid. Great value. My only concern is his age 34. Unless he wants to take a 1 year deal. Prefer to target a 27/28 year old player for 3/4 year length.

Or, you know, from the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, which just ruled that one's legal sex is determined by one's biological sex. I suppose Britain is in Alabama somewhere?

When did CP become so serious? LMAO we make fun of the people in Edmonton daily, but how dare someone disparage the fine people of North Carolina by making an off the cuff comment about hillbillies? Badger clearly made a joke.

It was a pathetically unfunny joke based on obvious bigotry.

They defeated the Oilers in 2006 is what they did! They were a great playoff team. And on this forum the Hurricanes are heroes. End of story!

Quick, go tell the local artists and promoters how they are obviously bigots for using the term "hillbilly". It's even endorsed by local government, how dare they support such obvious bigotry with a name like the Hillbilly Jam.
Here's a list of local sponsors. I suggest a passionate boycott campaign.

I warn you against ever searching for restaurants in NC with the term "hillbilly" in the name. You'll likely explode from rage, there are too many.
Good thing those fine folks of NC have you to not only make up a fake issue and outrage, but then vigorously defend them from said fake issue. Nobody shall use the bigoted term "hillbilly" ever again. White knight of the year.

Very true, they will always be heroes for their work in 2006. And the banjos played for a week after in celebration. Moonshine for everyone!

The so-called joke involved a claim that everyone in North Carolina is stupid, and that all the smart people had to be imported from somewhere else. You try telling that to anyone from North Carolina, and you are liable to find yourself with fewer teeth than you accuse them of having.

The fact that they took it seriously only made it better for me. I hope they wrote a long reply correcting me. Haha
