If they do make it to the final they need to add another layer of spice: Winner gets CL, loser gets relegated. Would make for one of the most intense finals ever, salvation or damnation.

Real Madrid throwing a temper tantrum again. Ahead of the Copa del Rey final tomorrow, their own TV channel trashed the referee, showing questionable decisions of him in the past and so on. Referee defended himself in a statement, then Real threatened to boycott the final. Now they've released this:

Quote:
Real Madrid communicates that our team has never considered giving up playing tomorrow's final. Our club understands that the unfortunate and inappropriate statements of the referees appointed for this match, made 24 hours before the final, cannot stain a sporting event of global importance that hundreds of millions of people will see and also out of respect for all the fans who plan to travel to Seville, and to all those who are already in the Andalusian capital. Real Madrid understands that the values of football must prevail, despite the hostility and animosity that have been evident today, once again against our club, by these referees designated for the final.
such a pathetic, whiny club, just full of entitlement all of the time. I hope Barcelona thrash them.

Some fun news!

Quote:
Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra will make his debut as an MMA fighter in a "showcase bout" in Paris on May 23 and the Manchester United legend has said he would like to take on Luis Suárez who "can even bite me."
https://global.espn.com/football/sto...ight-mma-debut

Suffice it to say, while I'm not really into 'Combat Sports' I'd watch that. Granted, I wouldn't want to fight Suarez, that guy is unhinged.

Celtic with their 55th SPL title. Wonder if this gets Rodgers back into the PL? Good for Johnston too, seems to be a defacto leader of the club.

And in a totally expected development, Kane will continue his career long streak of being not on the field to win a trophy. His yellow means he sits next week when Bayern can win the title.

Can he pull a John Terry? Run out onto the field in full kit?

That would be an interesting transfer seeing as Leicester and Wrexham are going to be in the same division and fighting for the same promotion.

Wonder exactly who/where Reynolds & McElhenny will get investment to fund a Championship roster. They spent about Ł10M on roster this year, which would probably have to double to truly compete at this next level. Or more
Is a fabulous story though, and I'm particularly pleased for McElhenny

I dont know, I dont think it'll be too much of a problem since, as you mentioned, its an amazing story and I think if it came all the down to 'passing a hat around' they could probably come up with the cash.

As someone who really enjoys the Finance of Sport, I think this in incredible.

When it comes to sports you always hear "its millionaires playing a game!"

And those players are rich, but actually funding the entire operation including paying those players? Those guys are 'wealthy.'

So seeing a couple actors doing more than just chipping in a bit part but actually taking this endeavour on is pretty cool.

If not for the choking gene PSG should be considered pretty strong favorites to win the whole thing, they look tremendous. And if they do win the Mbappe curse narrative shall begin.

PSG were slightly better today.
Not an insurmountable deficit but will be difficult.
Better finishing from Martineli and Trossard would have been nice, but PSG could have had more too.

I have no love for Arsenal, but as a rule I don't support Oil State Clubs under any circumstance.

Just give it one of these

This game is insane, another ridiculous goal for Inter, and Lamine just potted a beauty himself.

Another stunner (even if it's technically an OG), 3-3 now and this is obviously a classic.
