Ha Rasmus has as much chance as being of value in a nikishin trade as he does in a trade for the 1st overall pick.

I don't think they'll trade him, but i think treating prospects this way is dumb. This guy was dominating a league that (he no doubt thinks) is better than the AHL, so why would he want or care about playing there?

I agree, this feels like a bait and switch by Carolina and I'm not surprised he's upset. Also he's like 24 so it's not like he's some plucky teenager.

JD Vance went to Yale and called his story the hillbilly eulogy. The term has evolved, unlike some people. Do you know many folk from SC? Very religious. Very socially conservative. Espoused many values that many would today call "hillbilly" including people among themselves. For example, being ardently opposed to trans peoples rights.

By ‘some people’, I hope you mean Badgers Nose, who expressly claimed that all the intelligent people in North Carolina were ‘imported’ from other places, because native North Carolinians are stupid.

Actually, I do know people from SC. I have a close friend in Columbia who used to be a systems programmer for Honeywell’s mainframe computer division. He transferred out before the business collapsed, and now works for Honeywell’s HVAC division, maintaining control systems in (mostly) public buildings for which replacement parts are no longer being manufactured. The hardware can’t be replaced because the software won’t run on current equipment, and the clients can’t replace the entire systems because the budget process won’t allow them to spend the money.

Yes, he's very religious, very socially conservative… and fearsomely intelligent. I’m sure you don’t think such a thing is conceivable, but that’s your problem, not his or the Carolinas’.

In case you missed it, though, the Hurricanes play in North Carolina. I guess you’re just too smart to tell one hillbilly state from another.

Umm, have you read JayRandom's thoughts on the trans community? It's straight out of a swamp in Alabama, lol.

Always funny when people think they know how a place is when they’ve never lived there.

Nikishin is going no where, other than anchoring Carolina's PP for a long while.

He was considered the best prospect outside the NHL, largely due to huge skill and much less risk than most less tested prospects.

I know dozens. Collectively they own about 40 banjos and have the same number of teeth. Hillbillies, all of 'em. Their family tree is a straight line with some circles.

When did CP become so serious? LMAO we make fun of the people in Edmonton daily, but how dare someone disparage the fine people of North Carolina by making an off the cuff comment about hillbillies? Badger clearly made a joke.

It's too early for this on a Saturday, back to bed.

Parekh will have growing pains but needs to be too 4 time and PP.

Weegar is here to stay. Sign Bahl long term. Parekh is in top 4 now or soon enough.

Andersen needs be traded. Then go and sign a solid but not flashy defensive D for the left side.

It’s Jay Random, same guy who complains that all the clothes at Walmart are made for garden gnomes and goes around screaming about female athletes he thinks might secretly be men.

Safe to say he’s mentally on a different plane than the rest of us and not someone who represents CP’s ability to enjoy a joke.

Keep it to hockey guys.

I think a person can have different views on an off topic section and not have to defend them in a hockey discussion.

If flames could trade Rasmus for a first round pick+ and sign Ekblad, that would be some handy work by Conroy. Ekblad, Weegar, Bahl, Parkeh, Brzustewicz, with additional prospects of Morin, Poirier, Kuznetsoz, Mews. And Wolf in the back end. Thats looks pretty solid imo.

The flames would then just be missing a franchise centre...I can see where the marner rumors come from. Not sure I agree with going that route, but it has logic to it.

Marner to carry the team would be a big mistake. He's a great secondary piece when you have a star to carry the team, but he can't be the guy to carry the team. Just my opinion. I truly believe we need to draft that #1 guy.

stereotypes are usually there for a reason...Alberta included, I think most of us will admit that. I mean any Red state in the US right now is a pretty big smoking gun
