This is why there should be multiple debates. There is really no reason that they couldn't have a debate once a week for the campaign period, and a lot of questions. I know they need to visit cheese factories and get in the way at lumber mills or whatever else, but they should be openly facing questions more often.
Multiple debates but have them be heavily controlled and moderated. Political debates are typically nothing but theatre, with a few snippets of useful information sprinkled in. Have them actually mean something.
- I'd love them to be a 3+ hour process, with certain questions known beforehand, and the parties/candidates have to arrive with actual data/policy/informaton.
- Allow the answers and information provided in the debates to be fact checked by a pre-selected panel of journalistic organizations.
- After the first debate, and each subsequent debate, if anything has come up regarding the previous debate (discovered errors, misinformation, etc.) the first 30 minutes of the debate is to revisit those items.
- If your election period is say 6 weeks, you have to have your fully costed platform live and submitted by end of week 3, so debates 4/5/6 can include questioning on them.

That would be good. In reality, the media needs to have some control, though. You can't leave this to the parties to whinge and complain about how onerous a debate is to prepare for. More debates, more answering questions, and then not covering events where they are not allowed to ask questions. To me, the media has a significant role to play in democracy and should be fulfilling that.

I think it would great to have a couple debates, one early and one late. But in between the debates also have the leaders sit with a media outlet once or twice and answer the same series of questions. Debates are not really ideal for answering questions on specific issues which is why I think 45 to 60 minute interviews would be great.
Churches plays a crucial role in leading charitable efforts, driven by a commitment to faith, community, and service. Through mobilizing resources, identifying needs, fostering volunteerism, and advocating for justice, churches can make a profound impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
I know from experience that our church (the United Church of Canada) did a lot of work visiting people in hospitals and nursing homes, bringing families in from the cold during the winter, donating to charitable efforts in foreign countries, etc.
Nothing you said disagreed with my assertion that “advancement of religion” is not in and of itself a charitable endeavour worthy of tax-exempt status, so I’m assuming this was just a long-form agreement with my idea.

Most of the candidates did that, but Pierre was too cowardly to sit down with Nardwuar.

They also play a crucial role in protecting child predators. On the whole I'd say the church does more harm than good in our society

And that's the thing I dont' get about PP. If I listen to him speak it seems like he wants us to believe we are in some sort of dystopian Mad Max world thanks to the Liberals. "Canada is broken"
And I just fundamentally don't think that's the case. Comments like the ones above and the debate section on crime just seem like insane hyperbole....I'm not afraid to open my door and go outside. I'm not hunting and gathering for food. Is my grocery bill a bit higher than I'd like, sure. Do I have to walk by people that are unhoused and on drugs, sure, at times. Would I prefer that I didn't have to get a fort-knox style lock to secure my bike so that it's not stolen by a crackhead? Yes. But there's a long way to go between those minor hardships and hunting/gathering and the collapse of Canadian society.
Canada is ####ing great and we're lucky to live here. It's not broken. Are there opportunities? Do we need a tune-up? Sure. Do I love everything Trudeau did? No.
But there's a lotta ####ing great things that we should be thankful for as well.
You misunderstood. He is not saying that is how it is. He is saying that is how it will be if he is elected.
Rebel news has a petition up to support creating a Canadian DOGE.
Big Leon Smuk fans too.
Losers.
Doesn’t look good for the Conservatives’ chosen and preferred “journalists” to be advocating for destructive Republican policies, or any policies for that matter.
Is this a dual income household or am I just grossly underpaid? o__o
That is the pre tax number he shared of household Income. Roughly $82.3k/an household. I just divided by 12.
But also yes by Calgary standard $82k household is not a large income anymore. You'd be hard pressed to find a middle aged couple where both partners are making $20/hr

I'm guessing that middle age is 40-60 in this scenario. In that case, it's really not that hard to find people in this range making $20/h, or less. Many people have been downsized or had to find a new job, and these days the primary drivers for hiring are who you know, your race, your age, and your social media presence. Experience and ability come second.
I can throw a dart and find people in this situation, but they sure as hell don't advertise it, due to shame.

Crude wording, but I was thinking middle working aged, so ~41, half way between 18 and 65
But I stand by what I said, I doubt you could find many 41ish couples in Calgary who are both working and not pulling $82K or more, that really only equates to about $20/hour.
