Default Gas price jump?

Are my eyes deceiving me, or did half the city's gas stations raise their prices by 9 cents per liter yesterday?

WTF?

Apparently a crude oil price dip of $0.25 yesterday caused this huge gain...

http://www.calgarygasprices.com/retail_price_chart.aspx

Looking at the prices in Calgary & Edmonton along side the price of crude, you can see there isn't really a reason to complain.

Especially looking at the 3-month chart.

Look at the 6 year chart and see there's a lot to complain about.

BP refinery leak should be part of the problem:

I don't see it then. I see crude prices increasing at a faster pace than gas prices. As well, gas price increases being fairly consistent with spikes in crude prices.

Apparently some of the stations had cut their price too much in the past few weeks and now demand has out-paced supply....or say they say.

The No. 12 unit will be restarted by the end of the week or over the weekend after minor repairs, a person familiar with the refinery said. It should be operating normally by next week.
How much do you want to bet that the price of gas won't go back down?

Then put your money where your mouth is and long gasoline futures on NYMEX or CBOT. That should more than offset whatever it is more you have to pay at the pump.

Well, this should increase my fillup by the cost of a 32 ounce slurpee. Dang...

Kinda feel for those who drive the gas guzzlers. Oh wait, no I don't.

It usually takes a day or 2 before the price jumps here. Best part is reading/watching about the price increase in the news and still be able to fill up at the cheaper price

No kidding. Based on that chart the price of gas should have been, like, 10-15 cents less than it has been the last 2 months. But, what can you do, eh?

Toronto has been cheaper than Calgary since the start of May.

I paid 1.05 in Ottawa and about 0.94 Canadian in New York State today.
