But how do you move on when he is so terrible? If you and a couple of other guys on a message board can see it dont you think people paid to do the job would see the same thing?
I said he is a declining not so terrible. Lindholm looked like #### and got a haul.
I think he just had a down year ( players do that) and I think he will have a better year next year with someone else.( after we get a haul for him hopefully

I hope other teams think so as well so we can get a haul.
I don’t listen to many full player interviews because they’re usually boring and full of cliche. I watched that entire Rasmus interview and appreciated his honesty about his season and his future. I don’t need another Tkachuk blowing smoke today at a season-ending presser. Ras is entitled to his opinions and was far from obnoxious in my mind.

Out of curiosity, if I was Team Tank and had 'emotional intelligence' would I expect Rasmus to apologize for his -38 season or would I expect him to express satisfaction for his poor play that helped the Team Tank cause?
Or do I just get upset all the time regardless?

You may have a few who are just negative, but everyone wants to win and cheered the team on the win. I want a rebuild and I have my views that doesn't make me any less of a fan, I cheer win or lose. It was a dumb comment by a player who had a disastrous season.
He was specifically talking about the fans who cheer for losses instead of wins. You apparently have disincluded yourself from the fans he was talking about. I seriously didnt understand the people who were cheering for losses into the stretch drive when it would have taken a complete collapse to sniff a top ten pick.
Just floating this but what if the Oilers want one year of Andersson at 2.25M (50% retained) for Bouchard RFA?
Is there anything here? The Oilers might not want to sign him Bouchard long term who looks lost without Ekholm vs Andersson going all in at a 2.25M cap hit in the final year of the McDavid contract
Flames might not be interested given Parekh and Brz longterm on RD.. So many dmen have turned their game around after getting out of Edmonton (see Justin Schultz , Jeff Petry etc). Who adds? What do you think?
Things can obviously change but from what Ive heard weve seen the last of Andersson in a flames jersey. Mutual decision to find him a new home is the priority at this point.
Id expect the Flames to move him before or at the draft.
Wonderful, this is exactly what should happen. Signing him long term would have been absolutely sill with were we are at in our rebuild. But I also know the franchise biases towards attempting to re0sign anyone on the team if they're willing due to the market we're in.
Hope Zayne is taking notes. Its not going to matter if hes the next Makar with that personality of his. The 10% are a fickle, noisy, bitter bunch eager to run just about anyone out of town.
In reference to Andersson? If so, c'mon man. You understand nuance more than most here. You understand the situation with Rasmus, and what is being discussed with many wanting him moved, no?

Yep, teams rebuild while fans/GM's want it at times depending on where their team is at. We're going through a rebuild, Rasmus doesn't want that and made comments suggesting as such as he plans an exit with Conroy. Nothing much more to see than that. Yes, he called out the fans, but he's a fiery athlete, they'll always push for whatever direction is upwards at any given moment.
That shouldn't be taken as the best direction, just the one you want every player to look to, otherwise you should question their desire to win now. But to take those comments and throw it at fans that understand how most winners in the NHL are built is equally as silly.

For me +/- is very valuable stat, but it should be used in comparison to your teammates.
Rasmus - 38
Kadri -17
Huberdeau - 13
worst 3 on the team, Rasmus being -21 more than any other Flame is terrible.
Rasmus played 1184:32 ES minutes with Bahl. 391:48 without Bahl.
Rasmus with Bahl - -13
Rasmus without Bahl - -22
Bahl without Rasmus - +4
This is why I like Bahl and think he is a great parther for Parekh next year
I still don't think the stat has much merit.
And you don't need it because his expected numbers weren't that good either, so why go to the silly stat?
Go with xGA/60. That's what you are on the ice for in generation against. It doesn't get affected by having a boosted on ice shooting percentage, or a high on ice save percentage ... which happens in a full season.
Andersson was a team worst 2.64 xGA60 on the season.
But then you dig into his expected splits on the season and he's -2.38 on the season compared to -20 5 on 5 in actual goals.
The difference is goals for ... he was only on for 42 goals for compared to 62 in expected goals.
He was also the shutdown guy playing more minutes against elite than any other defenseman. That has to factor in to some degree too ... almost 4 games worth of ice time more than Weegar.
He said he had a rough season, and didn't make any excuses, but the numbers aren't quite as simple as comparing a useless stat.

Yes it should only be compared to your team-mates. And most importantly, you have to consider the role and the quality of competition that the player faces. Then take it from there.
