I agree with Sofa GM, I would be expecting a late first and a B level prospect back if he goes, don't have huge expectations now that the one crazy price deadline opportunity was missed. He's got a big personality, has been a great Flame and eats a lot of minutes for the flames but I don't think he's elite in any category, not a great skater or defender and your market is limited to teams willing to pay at least 7x7 and where he's willing to re-sign. Though hopefully someone is desperate and that return inches up. But I could see an offer from the Sharks being the Stars pick and a recent 2nd or 3rd level pick.
It probably comes down to whether or not they feel Parekh is ready to play next year as if so, you have Weegar and Parekh as your two top right shot dmen and Andersson should be moved or the Flames will be stuck with the new contract a long time. I know Weegar can play the left too but I think replacing Hanley in the top 4 should be its own separate decision and search.

My bold prediction:
Xhekaj (healthy scratch for the Habs and a backlog of LH dmen) + 16th OV for Andersson.

Honest question, do we need him next year? IMO, Pachal and Bahl emergences makes him expendable if we have Parekh join

the team is 100% better with Andersson on it. The question is if it is the best asset management looking 4 years + into the future.

I don't think so, but it's not like they can't find a place for him to play if the best offer is a 3rd rounder or something. You don't move him just to move him.
Weegar can play the left pretty capably so if teams lowball the flames and the best value is to re-sign him, I think you just bump Hanley to make room for Parekh in the top 4 and play Weegar on the left. But the main problem with that is you're stuck with Andersson for 8 years.
Defensively think the need for the Flames right now is a left shot top 4 guy and if you can acquire that Andersson becomes redundant as long as Parekh is half as good as we are hoping for him to be.
Pretty unlikely that he would jump straight into the show but with his size/physical maturity a guy who looks like a great fit on the back end for them long run to me is Kashawn Aitcheson from this year's draft. I think you always go BPA but if they were to land him with 18, the back end and goaltending crew could potentially be in great shape for a decade which is crazy to say.
Leaves those massive gaps down the middle up front though long run. Another guy who it would make sense to move this summer/is at peak value is clearly Kadri and maybe he could bring in another very strong building block or pick, but I can't see the Flames doing it with Murray Edwards' retool vs. rebuild mindset

More importantly he has full trade control and has no interest in moving his family from Calgary, which continues to be ignored by many.

Nah man despite hearing there was interest and he didn’t want to waive?m, it’s Flames management/ownership at fault here so long as it being their fault fits a pre-determined narrative that makes them look bad.

Given how badly he wants to win, guesswork but I feel like he would move if its a strong team, good place to live and done in the summer where you gave him the time to resettle and showed respect - his NMC clause is gone after this season and so if he gets offered a move to a contender this year that wants him long run and is a nice place to live, it doesn't make a lot of sense for him to refuse only to get dealt wherever the flames feel like next summer, as his NTC only allows him to list 13 teams so there will be 18 markets for the Flames to deal with. It would absolutely gut the team on ice though.

Things can obviously change but from what I’ve heard we’ve seen the last of Andersson in a flames jersey. Mutual decision to find him a new home is the priority at this point.
I’d expect the Flames to move him before or at the draft.

Just have this need/want and a gut feeling SJ is going to acquire Rasmus. They need him. Leadership, experience and they really have no D to build around. And imagine Andersson with Schaefer if that's the way they get to draft.
Edit: wallenius, Dickinson. muhkmadhulin are all coming sooner than later but Razz would be a huge benefit for them in terms of leadership.

I'll be sad to see him go (will especially miss the stare-downs), but thus just makes the most sense for both parties.

Bystedt and Dallas 1st for Poirier, rights to Vladar and Andersson.

6 team no trade, has there been a list of who is likely on that other that Edmonton and Buffalo?

How about Andersson for their 2026 1st round pick.
How many more top picks does SJ need before they find themselves with a team full of youngsters and zero leadership. Plus, maybe they expect themselves to take a step next year, I'd take that bet.

Buffalo
Ottawa
Winnipeg
Were the three I heard.
Just based on the rivalry with Edmonton and Vancouver I would doubt that he has them on his list and just gambles that the Flames won't want to send him to either team.
Guessing on the other three I would think
Columbus - location and chance of winning
Philadelphia - issues with team culture and no chance of winning
Anaheim - issues with team culture and no chance of winning

If Rasmus is being allowed at the table to figure out where he's going to land that will limit our ultimate trade return, imo.

I wonder what the procedure would be if Arizona was on someones no trade list. I imagine it would just switch to Utah and then the player can use their discretion to waive that clause?
